I already do spend how I want. I buy pretty much whatever I want to buy within reason. I live off less than half of what I make. I mean I'm not going out and buying a Tesla or a Rivian but still.

Also most people in families have dual incomes. Not a lot of people are raising a family off a single income unless they're wealthy.
You got it.:hubie: Do you thing out here breh.

It's something I've given thought to but in-order to raise my wage I'll have to first lower it and change career fields. It's not just something you snap your fingers and have happen.

I've been putting some effort into making myself a nice little tracking spreadsheet. Much better than anything I've done in the past. It's got room to improve since it's only for tracking spending, but man when I'm on, I'm ON :wow:.

Adjusted my 401k balances and started skimming some mutual funds to get into. I'm going to put my tracker to use for a couple months and then work monthly investing into the budget. I've been being reminded that I'm not on top of things like I should be.

Started logging my spending this month. It's good to see the breakdown again on such a granular level and it's sobering to add each line item. Like damn I really did this huh :why:? This is going to help me get back on track.

Is Rich Dad worth a read? I'm going through some financial struggle right now.
It was one of the first financial books I read. I think it helped me form some good habits. I've come to find that a lot of financial advice in these books tends to be common sense type stuff. However, it's always good to have a reminder on what to do if you're slipping. The book is accessible and entertaining. The PC Cashflow 101 game is a fun little exercise every now and then (should be able to find it floating around somewhere).

Not one with plans to type much. Wanted to thank you and the others here who offer advice, and seem to really care for others. After covid I started browsing here, and I remember you specifically giving advice on coding. There were other posts about coding and businesses, that were very helpful.
You never know who you could be helping. Much respect.

I joined The Coli specifically because of the misinformation about programming that was floating around TLR by people on the outside looking in. It was good when this subforum was created because it showed who was a talker and who was a doer (with a couple exceptions). I try to keep it as real as possible and give as much detail as I can without letting go of personal info so people can understand that struggles of getting into the industry. How to handle money on a basic level so that you aren't broke on a good salary. I get it wrong :yeshrug:. I should have invested what I spent on my car. But it was also a valuable exercise in handling a loan and paying it down as soon as possible. If somebody can learn from me then it was all worth it.

Thank you and all who seek to help others. Whether it be a kid in west virginia, india, africa, or caribbean. The internet is the first time in world history that every person with access has the ability to learn or be successful.
The misinformation is literally evil. Whether that be covid, politics, or coding. If not for the knowledge presented by you and others, I would have thought coding would be something I could not even try. I am more interested in stocks and crypto. In fact bought dogecoin from reading about it here.
The main point I want to present is that, it might not be obvious how impactful you and others might be.
For example one person says coding/banking/stocks is not for black people or the poor. Another like yourself might give pointers on how best to maneuver in that world.
That could be the diffefence between a person believing hustling on the street, or minimum wage, is better than going back to school or starting a business.
We can be of assistance to our family/friends, when though that be done for thousands, the effect is far greater.
Blessed love to you and all.

I've started spending more time in DT Baltimore and its a real nice city. Just the QOL and jobs is lacking and idk about raising a family there. Baltimore and DC really need better commuter rail.

Inside the beltway PG has alot of gems, I've been keeping an eye out on all the proposed developed in EOTR DC and Prince George's. Black people have a lot of money here we need to pay attention and keep ownership of our communities.
so looks like buying property this year is dub

gonna focus on saving and getting my cc debt down

Recently I've been having issues w/ my Credit Card not syncing to Mint. The customer service team just can't fix the issue unfortunately. Tax season and Elizabeth Warren's comments (Sen. Elizabeth Warren accuses Intuit of 'scam' by charging for tax prep software ) reminded me how shytty of a company Intuit is in general. so I'm looking to replace Mint with Simplifi even though Simplifi costs $4/mo and Mint is free.

That’s who I work for, Hassan Minaj did a piece on how it’s a big scam. But
1. We are in business to make money
2. We lobby the hell out of Congress to make sure they do nothing
3. The government will never adequately fund the IRS so they can do their jobs or offer a truly free tax return filing tool
4. :troll:

Yeah. I kinda always associated it with Intuit instead of Mint but they are one and the same at this point. The only reason they are able to provided the service for free is likely because they are mining data on the backend and if a company is willing to lobby the gov't to screw over consumers, they likely don't have any morals regarding data collection either.
