they had to flip their model to survive... when they were blockbuster they were getting handled by these companies. licenses pulled and not making a lot of profits. now everybody hopped on their business model so they have to make original content.Having Netflix now is pretty much like subscribing to any specific network. They have good original content, but i no longer see it as good rental company.
It's no longer anything like a digital version of Blockbuster.
