NETFLIX ORIGINALS – TOP PICKS
Lately, Netflix has been focusing on original shows and that works fine with us. After seeing Haunting on Hill House, I’m pretty sure that the channel won’t disappoint in the initial month of the year. In essence, 4 shows caught my eye so far. 3 of them are Netflix veterans and there’s that one newcomer; Kingdom. I’m going to shed some light on each and every one of them. Check ’em out.
UNBREAKABLE KIMMY SCHMIDT: SEASON 4 PART 2
For those who are not familiar with the show and planning to binge-watch it, here’s how it goes. Kimmy is rescued from an apocalypse cult back in Indiana after spending 15 years locked with three other women. This incident usually breaks a person but not Kimmy. She moves to New York City determined to catch up with the life she missed. Armed with her enthusiastic and fun behavior, she restarts her life as a nanny and a roommate to a struggling actor.
Now for those who are actually up to date. It’s probably heartbreaking to see one of the most comedic series ending for good. Kimmy is finally reunited with the backpack she lost back in episode 1 and Titus has his own TV series now. What to expect is an understatement here. Therefore, we have to wait and see what episodes 7-13 are bringing to our screens.
A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS: SEASON 3
Three children are sent to a relative called Count Olaf after their parents mysteriously perished in a fire. For those who watched the series or read the books, the count has set his eyes on the family’s fortune. The fun part of the series is that Neil Patrick Harris is doing an amazing job portraying the villain in the story. With his witty comedy and outstanding performance, the show is one of the greats among Netflix’s originals.
Netflix has been very secretive about the final season of the show. The series finale will cover the remaining four books. We’re almost at the end, UNFORTUNATELY. The fate of the Baudelaire children and truth behind the letters, all will be revealed in the 7 remaining episodes of the series. Moreover, new faces will be introduced in the season:
- Richard E. Grant as the Man with a Beard.
- Beth Grant as the Woman with Hair but No Beard.
- Kassius Nelson as Fiona Widdershins.
- Max Greenfield as Dewey Denouement.
- Peter MacNicol as Ishmael.
KINGDOM: SEASON 1
Kingdom is a South Korean series premiering on January 25th. It is set to have two seasons and will mark Netflix’s second Korean original show. The series is in the medieval Joseon period. It revolves around a plague that’s threatening the kingdom. However, after the mission is set and the crown prince goes on a so-called suicide mission, it turns out to be that a Zombie apocalypse is on the verge and no one in the kingdom is safe.
Ju Ji-hoon is taking the lead part as Crown Prince and an episode’s estimated budget is 1.78 million dollars. According to reports, a crew member of the art team died on January 16, 2018, due to overwork. By knowing so, you can presume the hard work the team has pulled throughout the year and what outcome might prevail in this highly anticipated series.
FRIENDS FROM COLLEGE: SEASON 2
Brought to you by the geniuses of Neighbors and Forgetting Sarah Marshall, this series revolves around old friends at Harvard. Ethan, Lisa, Sam, Nick, Max, and Marianne reuniting after a long time. As they try to navigate their ambitious yet clumsy and romantically intertwined lives in New York City, a lot of comedic and dramatic moments are set to occur. From parties to affairs, the show covers it all.
Consisting of 8 episodes, fans are disappointed since the number is not enough for an amazing show like this. All of the friends will reconnect at a party in the season premiere. Sam is trying to save her marriage and the six are investing in their friendship so that they can fix the chaos brought by their pasts. Will they be able to overcome these obstacles? Will they go back to function as a friend group again? We’ll just have to wait till January 11th and find out.
