Essential Official Netflix Thread

Incoming this month on the originals front include the second season of the excellent Narcos, the fifth season of Longmire, and the first season of Marvel’s Luke Cage. No Netflix feature films are coming, but they are dropping a ton of documentaries. These including a surely lighthearted Chef’s Table in France, alongside heavier films like Amanda Knox which follows the story of a Seattle woman who spent four years in an Italian prison on murder charges, Audrie and Daisy which details a high school sexual assault, White Helmets which takes a look at the Syrian Civil Defense, and Extremis which tackles end of life decisions.

As far as blockbusters are concerned, you’ve got plenty on the way this month, including Footloose, (RT: 54%) Jaws (RT: 97%), Top Gun (RT: 55%), and Saving Private Ryan (RT: 92%). It’s not just old movies, the extremely well received Zootopia (RT: 98%) and The Imitation Game (RT: 90%) arrive this month as well.


Plus, if you’re into the idea of watching one of the best-worst remakes ever made, Wicker Man (RT: 15%), starring Nicolas Cage arrives on September 1st.

It’s a short list of movies leaving Netflix this month, but you’ll certainly want to catch Days of Thunder (RT: 39%) before you watch Top Gun. Also out are Roman Holiday (RT: 98%), Bridge on the River Kwai (RT: 94%) and Zoolander (RT: 64%). As for TV, you’ll want to finally finish up that binge on the excellent sci-fi series Fringe before it leaves on September 11th. If for some reason you’re watching Everybody Loves Raymond you’d better finish it up before the 1st.

Watching terrace house, anyone else peeped? Japanese reality show sort of like the real world.

Japan's dating issue 100% making sense now. None of these people have any game at all.

They seem to have fairly rigid gender roles too, which is actually a little surprising to me.(albeit I know very little about Japan.)

Its not that great of a show IMO. Very slow, and the reserved nature of damn near the entire cast is off putting.

I watch reality shows for fukkery, this doesn't provide much, except for maybe a good look into Japanese culture.
