They don't have it during the event??? How can rap not be televised when it's the biggest genre of music? That shyt is lightweight racist, I can't believe they still don't televise it.. Rappers should refuse to attend or promote the whole shyt.

Its not lightweight. The straight up. Its the main reason I don't care about Nas winning a Grammy because they don't respect hip hop so what's a Grammy worth? Just some white people clout. Nas is the goat regardless.

Grammys are wack. I'm on to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Grammys turned into MTV Awards
I hope Nas doesn't win. His name looks better on the list of non-winners

They DO televise SOME of the Rap categories but only the ones where the most popular artists are nominated. For example for the past few years there have been four rap categories

Best Rap Album
Best Rap Song
Best Rap Performance
Best Melodic Rap Performance (Changed from Best Rap/Sung Performance)

Last year they televised Best Rap Album, and if i’m not mistaken that was the ONLY category they did televise. Tyler The Creator performed and won

In 2019 Best Rap Album AND Best Rap Song were televised. Cardi B won Best Rap Album for Invasion Of Privacy and Drake won Best Rap Song for God’s Plan. Both Cardi B and Drake were also nominated for AOTY

In 2018 they televised Best Rap Album. Kendrick Lamar won for Damn. Kendrick Lamar also performed with Dave Chappelle (who also won for Best Comedy Album) Kendrick was also nominated for Album Of The Year

In 2017 they televised Best Rap Album. Chance The Rapper won. He was also nominated for Best New Artist (which he won)

So basically you have to be a high seller AND/or also nominated in one of the big four general categories for a Rap Category to be televised.

I'm a Nas stan and I hope he doesn't win,
I'm sure I read some where he is not fussed about the Grammys and is quite happy being in the same category as Tupac, Biggie, Jimi Hendrix, Diana Ross, Bob Marley and Run Dmc. Legends who have never won a Grammy

No I'm not riding with that. Nas deserves a Grammy for Kings Disease. Just like he deserved it for several of his other albums and songs.

Its gonna be tough and even if he does win there might not be full appreciation cause of other albums like Gibbs. But having listened to the albums all again I actually think nas and jay elec's albums are the best. I still see them giving it to Gibbs, Jay Elec or D Smoke but I hope Nas wins. But Im not holding my breath or having high hopes.

I don’t think Nas truly cares either way but wishing he DOESN’T win runs counter productive to labeling yourself a “stan” breh lol.

It doesn’t take away from his legacy of he DOESN’T win and only adds to his legacy if he DOES win. Especially so late into his career on his 13th album. He’d truly be THE MC who stood the test of time with his work being recognized on such a mainstream platform 28 years after his debut.

It would also bode well for his Mass Appeal Records. Imagine being able to boast that after being on Columbia and Def Jam, you finally win your first major music award on your own INDEPENDENT label. Thats a hell of a selling point when pitching to other artists.
