What BDK told Nas about Illmatic?

Dudes thinking that girls want to hear "girl" songs all the time is crazy, lol...aside from the fact that it wouldn't have fit "Illmatic" at all.

Madd girls like aggressive/street rap shyt, I'd say most. It be the birds and smutties and jawns like that that like that "bust it open" shyt all day.

Or if he's talking about the soft shyt, if Illmatic had an "I need love" on there shyt would have ruined the entire trajectory of Nas's life, and not in a good way, lol. I'm glad Kane wasn't around him when he was making this shyt, :russ:

In 1994, those "girl" songs didn't sound like that at all. I mean, within context when you look at the following songs:

Method Man- All I Need (album version and the remix)

Biggie- One More Chance (album version and the remix)

^^^ classic songs without compromising anything.

It could've worked. Illmatic has songs that sampled "Human Nature" and "Yearning For Your Love".

I was just thinking it would have to be a Mary J Meth type of song or Maybe A lots of loving type joint. But you never with those back packers.

First thing that came to mind for me was “what if Sugar Hill was on Illmatic.” It wouldn’t have been a refined, perfect r&b rap song like Diddy crafted for Meth (not counting rza version) or Biggie, just based on the producers involved. It would have been something like Sugar Hill.

That's 2 songs out of how many tho? Lol

Also, lets not forget, Akinyele is Nas's OG in the game, and we already know his brand of "girl song".

I hear you tho...but even if Nas made a girl record on that type of time that you talking about it still would have made Illmatic something totally different than what we see it as today. It would not have fit.

It depends on what type of song he went with. Nas was creative enough to write a song that was letters from homies in prison. I think he could have came up with something that wasn't a stereotypical love song over a beat didn't stray too far from the sound of the album.

Can somebody explain to me how Nas was flowing on Show Discipline? Almost 20 years later it's still one of the most mindblowing flows I ever heard. I've tried to rap his verse to myself and I can't keep up. :mjcry:
