Wasn’t there a rumor that Nas felt some type of way about AZ having a radio hit before him. I never really bought it because while I can get why Nas (and virtually every hood rapper) would feel somewhat jealous about Biggie’s quick rise, I don’t see why Nas would feel like that about AZ in 1995. Nas was still the toast of the town at the time, alongside Biggie.

To me it makes more sense that despite disappointing record sales Nas would have felt pretty damn good about his position until the Source Awards when Biggie won everything. I love Questlove is the only source of this but like, it makes sense that it would be the moment where Nas was like “hold on now what the fukk...”

And besides they worked together heavily the next couple years with The Firm.

I mean sometimes you can break something down out loud that doesn't add up to you, and someone that's in earshot will interpret it as hate quietly to themselves. Then go around spreading that interpretation. You see that alot on the coli even.

So it's easy for a rumor like that to manifest based on an event that actually happened, even though the conclusion that's being spread is false

NAS an AZ were cool then the firm flopped.
NaS apparently snatched one of AZ bytches.
NaS thought AZ was tripping but A wasn’t tripping so they grew distant til at stillmatic when they did the essence and flyest gangster.
That’s around the time nikkas wanted the duo album NaS said cool weMll do it. Never did it cut serious off of streets disciple due to the sample ain’t seen NaS & AZ on a record ever since. As been shadowing NaS since with the N4L mixtape when NaS made the ****** Album & just been doing his own thing.

az was there for all the illmatic ten year 20 year anniversary concerts though so he been eating with NaS all these years while playing the background.

There have only been a few instances of people mentioning that AZ/Nas had problems:

- Carmen claims AZ was tryna fukk her at some point.
- Prodigy mentioned that Foxy and AZ used to call Nas King Snake behind his back.
- Kay Slay was once going to drop an entire anti-Nas mixtape, and claimed he had AZ speaking negatively on Nas on it.

I don't think there's ever been even any subs between Nas/AZ without having to really pull a Dhalsim. And throughout the years they've always popped up either together or showing love.

They're friends nearly 30 years deep so there's bound to have been some times where they weren't "as cool" or even "cool" with each other. But I've been stanning both for almost 25 years, and it's never gone into beef mode.

Carmen has NEVER claimed that AZ tried to fukk her. I’ve read her book and he’s barely even mentioned. Puff tried to fukk her though.

Not Pete Rock either. He ADAMANTLY denied in an interview with allhiphop that he even knew Carmen.

Aight I took the line out of my post.

In that case I can only name two instances of any mention of negativity between the gods. Both coming from disgruntled ex-Nas stans (RIP the other GOAT P) who were lashing out.

And that Kay Slay threat got shutdown REAL quick, I don't know who made the call but his whole fukk Nas tirade got shutdown faster than that bullshyt Nas diss by Jigga ("European Hov") that got scrubbed out of existence.
