Pete Rock was talking shyt about It Was Written
Yup. People dont understand that this is part of the reason IWW got unnecessary flack about the production. The producers for Illmatic were mad they didnt get placements and was publicly hating on him. nikkas tell this lie that IWW was “panned”. Yet the shyt got the SAME score as Reasonable Doubt by The Source. But nikkas say Reasonable Doubt is a 5 mic classic. Lol.

Yep Pete Rock learned the hard way

Q-Tip, Premier, and Large Professor had reservations about Steve Stoute’s plan for Nas’s career and IWW but never PUBLICLY criticized Nas or the album. Pete was the only one in his feelings and let it be known. Nas cut him off and let him stew in his feelings for 13 years lmao

Well. Now Pete Rock finally has the chance to get his beats unfairly criticized simply for the fact he’s working with Nas outside of Illmatic. Lol. Hope he can handle it.

i went to the show last night in myrtle beach, sc. i hadn't seen the goat live in over 12 years. he definitely did his thing. had a DJ out there and a drummer who sang a little bit. he had the instrumentals to the beats but had the drummer play on them also.

son ran though the whole illmatic basically. he touched on a lot of joints from other albums- son did project windows from nastradamus, affirmative action (he was rapping az verse)- he gave a shout to az and fox, then said shout out to the other nikkas in the firm- basically didn't wanna say mega or nature name lol. phone tap also. did his verbal intercourse verse. street dreams, made you look, nas is like, hate me now, oochie wally, you owe me. basically all the hits but a lot of album jewels. mo money mo murder.

he started trying to rap lost tape 2 joints but was cutting them off cause he straight up said he couldn't remember the verses but was letting them play with lyrics on. overall he was sharp and on point performance wise, definitely enjoyed the show. he rocked by himself didn't even have no hypemen, or people out on the stage. i went with my sister who is a big nas fan as well as i am.

he did a lot of songs while he was up there maybe a little over a hour, he has improved his performances from the last time i seen him back in 02 and 07. good interactions with the crowd. overall dope. this was a slide off solo date from the mary j tour, i think they back in virginia today.

@Ziggiy shared that In a recent interview, Nas mentions that he is a little tired of celebrating Illmatic. We all love Illmatic for sho but I think Illmatic overshadows the rest of his incredible catalogue so much that his other classic albums don’t get their due. While it is a worthy classic, it’s continued praise is all the younger generation hears.

A lot of people on these boards think IWW deserves some props. Who thinks Nas or Mass Appeal will actually put something together to recognize IWW? It’s been 20 plus years.

I think it would a good way to both show love for his second consecutive classic and also bring more awareness to his earlier street poetry for the youngsters. Maybe that would be a good segue into another Lost Tapes volume from that era. Who knows?

Yup and in my opinion IW is better than RD....what's funny nikkaz wasn't rocking with that album in 96....don't get me wrong RD is tough but nikkaz wasn't rocking with it in 96

If i'm not mistaking when the Source went back and re-gave albums 5 mics that was 4/4.5, they left IWW off of the list because they didn't want to give someone back to back 5mics.
