Yall think its dropping on Friday?

No
Naw..

I think he will do a traditional rollout. That Nasir rollout did not go smooth at all..

To keep it funky that was more Kanye’s fault than Nas.

If they could have done it over again and do it like this

Premiere the Nasir short film FIRST on Mass Appeal’s website that Thursday night

Release the album ON TIME that Friday across all streaming sites

Then I guarantee the album would have been better received. Its not a bad album by any means

I agree 100% that short film first in front of the album would have been a win. The album is a actually pretty dope to me. Not his strongest effort, but I think bonjour everything and Adam and even in particular are very dope

That wouldn't have worked because they were still working on the album the very night of the listening party. They basically poisoned the well by playing an un-mixed album for people. It wasn't done. The only project that was DONE DONE, out of all those albums, was Pusha's. Everything else dealt with ludicrous mixing issues and last minute changes. I can't stand Mike Dean...
:francis:

The film was completed afterwards iirc.

I agree it's 100% on Kanye (and Mike Dean). The album...wasn't a success and while I respect that you like it, a lot of people felt opposite. It def has its moments tho, for sure. It's not terrible, or even bad. I just feel like Nas has a great team around him and I'd rather see THEM collaborately come up with an album rollout/album aesthetic than basically be hostages to a madman (Kanye). I want to hear what the "Nas Album Done" album sounded like. It seems like Hip Hop isn't working with Nas anymore...I hope there was no bad blood or fukkery.

Where did you get the idea that he isn't working with hip hop anymore? Mal said on the joe budden podcast that hip hop told him that nas has heat on the album that he has been working on.

Also people need to understand that Lost Tapes 2 has been planned and in the works for at LEAST the past 5 years. Nas gave us a trajectory for LT2 back in 2014

Nas launches Mass Appeal Records, readies release of Lost Tapes 2 and all-star compilation

Late last month, after spending much of the year celebrating the 20th anniversary of his Illmatic debut, Nas revealed his plans to begin recording a new album. As it turns out, though, that record won’t actually be released via his long-time label Def Jam, as Nas’ contract expires at the end of the year. Instead, he’s going independent, launching his own record label dubbed Mass Appeal (via Billboard).

For Mass Appeal, Nas teamed up with entrepreneur Peter Bittenbender, who own previously owned the boutique label-turned-creative studio Decon Records. (Decon will continue to serve clients like Nike and CNN, while music operations are folded into the Mass Appeal banner.) In addition to the label, the pair recently raised $1.2 million to relaunch the street art publication Mass Appeal magazine, which will serve as a sister company ala The FADER and The Fader label.

“I’m excited to be a part of creating and supporting future careers and legacy artists, promoting love and finding new genius to help the world,” Nas wrote in an email to Billboard. “I’m going to be as involved as I need to be, but I also want to be respectful of the art and give artists the space they need to grow and become themselves.”

Added Bittenbender, “We want to become the next XL (Recordings, home to Adele, The xx, and Vampire Weekend). “This is an opportunity to take everything we’ve learned and build a global, diversified label from the ground up.”

As Billboard points out, the label will be distributed by Sony’s RED, who released Nas’ Illmatic back in 1994. To secure this contract, RED reportedly put up an advance in the “low seven figures for a multi-year agreement.”

Mass Appeal’s first release comes later this summer via a “compilation of brand friends”, including Pusha T, Future, Mac Miller, the ASAP Mob, and Nas himself, who will cover Gang Starr’s 1994 single “Mass Appeal”. Afterward, the label will release Lost Tapes 2, a long-fabled collection of unreleased Nas tracks, and a posthumous Pimp C record featuring production from DJ Mustard and Mike WiLL Made It.

The label has already signed a number of up-and-coming rappers, including 17-year-old Bishop Nehru and Fresno rapper Fashawn. There’s also plans to expand the roster to include singer-songwriters, DJs/producers, and EDM acts.

When did he say that? Recently, or months to a year ago. We haven't heard anything about them working together since learning about the Kanye stuff. Which is why I assume it's a case of him moving on...which happens a lot. A few years ago Nas was working heavily with Timbo....nothing came out, he moved on. His music direction constantly morphs.

I dont know how he could handle a rollout from an album which is a compilation of old unreleased tracks.
I think he's just gonna release the album in full like many artists do today, it fits with what it is, he's not gonna drop a single or a video for a song from his vault, it would be weird.

I say there is a good chance we're getting this very soon if not friday.

And i think it would help his sales too, the buzz is gonna be automatic if this shyt hits streaming plateforms out of nowhere.

Wow!! Saw the news and knew right away heads in here would clown me because I’ve been thirsty for the Lost Tapes 2 to come out. It’s all good!

I’ll be happy with whatever he puts out but I must admit, I’m a bit nervous. It will more than likely be unlock what we would’ve predicted it would be like in 2003 when it was first mentioned or when it was mentioned when he was trying to put it out with def jam or even in 2014 when he got with Mass Appeal. Still, I hope he drops plenty of bombs and bonus tracks.

Nas boosted of having enough for volumes and volumes over 10 years ago. Now we get to hear some. Will he drops some of the titles we have heard rumors of? Who knows. We shall see. How deep will he go is the question.

I want the get up, the Pete rock track and some premo stuff. There is also statik and there will always be a sleeper or two. Then there are the songs we heard that we want in Cd quality with no DJ, like (for me) High, Top Down,

If he stays strictly with the Sony/Columbia vaults then we might be looking at songs that were recorded but never released (Small World Pt 2, I am Somebody, Get Up) If he dips into the Def Jam sessions then you’ve got tracks from HHID (White Man’s Paper) Untitled (Colors, tracks produced by Jermaine Dupri) Life Is Good (title track) and the original Lost Tapes 2 that was supposed to drop (Pete Rock produced track, Statik, Primo)

Either way, Nas has T O N S of tracks from both era’s of his career that we’ve never heard, to the point where I wouldn’t be surprised if its an entire compilation of never before heard tracks.m

Hell I didn’t even mention the work he was doing with Timbaland (Sinatra In The Sands) DJ Khalil, Justice League, Hit Boy, and the no doubt HUNDREDS of joints he has with Salaam Remi
