You gotta be humble and recognize where you are and who you aren't bigger than. AZ prob had mad people in his ears for years telling him he didn't need Nas, or that Nas owed him something, and all types of other shyt. Likewise Mega was thinking all types of shyt. The bigger man can admit it's not about being bigger than everyone, sometimes you gotta just accept reality. You think Nas doesn't realize Hov is bigger than he ever was and is on top of the world? Of course he does...but he doesn't give a shyt, because he's a big enough man to be comfortable in his skin as well as his own success. But when you don't have success and aren't comfortable, it's harder to make peace.

Mega is in a position where he's had indie success, and I'm sure he's doing fine overall...but he'd be doing better with Nas. Same with AZ. A coli poster said that Nas, AZ, and Mos are gonna tour this fall. If that's true...that's the type of look AZ needs, and the type of opportunity Nas can make for brehs. Nostalgia for the 90s is a lucrative wave. People want to see the legends...especially legends who give good shows and are healthy. Brehs can make good money on this tour. Mega could have been on that tour...but for whatever reason there's still tension. I don't believe it's coming from Nas. Maybe it's from their camps, homies, etc. But Nas is in a position where he has no time or interest in beefing with brehs.

I want to see Nas bring Mega out during a show, just like Hov did with Cam. Sadly I doubt it'll ever happen.

Didn't Nas come out with Mega in 2006. Something else happened after this?

Nas drops the ****** album az drops ******4life mixtape
NaS DOES invite AZ to illmatic anniversary events to perform life is a bytch.
I was speaking on why they become close then they don't become close. those reasons I spoke about earlier.
AZ does shadow NaS moves toa degree because they are connected
But AZ is his own man he makes moves seperate from NaS until things slowdown and you see him shadowing or attempting to shadow NaS moves its just what he does. Im done commenting on this getting nothing but negative energy from it. Peace.

Naw, dont stop bro.. my bad. Im actually in traffic skimming..

Came here to kinda echo what y'all saying

A lot of the recent illmatic tributes and celebrations for both the 20th and 25th anniversary have also come from Mass Appeal and Sacha at the helm too. He was at Ego Trip back in the day and of course they are part of that era of championing Illmatic for the underground while being crushed by other stuff. Obviously Nas didnt do a lot when it was the 10th and 15th Anniversary so his team wanna really give it the cultural tributes it deserves

But as they've given Illmatic the legacy treatment it naturally warrant, I do feel its come at the expense of his other albums being remembered. And know I wonder if young people feel like he's milking it.

Young people just getting into Hip Hop this decade have obviously been checking out these tributes and celebrations and they seetheir favourite music bloggers and purists who've probably put them on credible music to get into like Kanye and Kendrick and they hail Illmatic.. And you sense they are responding to it , Illmatic earned another platinum certification this past January and a couple of singles went Gold finally and it got like 200 mil streams last year

But they also believe them when they say the rest of his catalogue is inconsistent and not as celebratory worthy (Which is bullshyt but we all knew music bloggers who' did that in the 90s and 00s)
What Ive noticed especially on twitter more people especially the young really into Hip Hop fans (the rate my music types) dismiss Nas discgraphy and prop up Illmatic. They'll still put him in GOAT talk and will even say Illmatic is the GOAT album but they feel real comfortable saying so and so passed Nas up cause they got better albums (Kendrick) Mostly for Sonic sound purposes.

This is why I kinda find celebrations of the album bittersweet.

Do you celebrate the album or the launch of the man's career?

Give the other albums the flowers they deserve too
Crazy that there wasn't a thread about Illmatic going double platinum :ahh:
