I'm the same way. And sure enough, whenever I watch something, I absolutely love it..
Used to watch almost everything, then realized it was a waste of time. Used to delete 100gigs of movies at a time, cause I realized I actually didn't want to watch any of them and only downloaded them off hype.
Friday Night Lights is a series I put my rep behind 100%
and something like Cool Runnings for a movie. Most human-friendly movie ever
these threads always start out nicely, but you ALWAYS get the brehs that will start with the middling stuff, and thread can't be taken seriously after.

Last mistake I made was House of Cards. Classic hype show. Not very good after about 7 eps. Trash after the 1st season. Formulaic after a while.
Once the "damn this guy is brutal" shine wears out, it gets exposed.
True Detective hype was 100% warranted though.

its a running joke between me and my few friends that I'll be watching what's good and "popular" now sometime next year, or after the entire show has aired.
Definitely...I remember my friends telling me in the 90s how dope Casino was...then I just got around to watching it maybe 2-3 years ago. Same thing with movies like Scarface, Reservoir Dogs, Goodfellas, and The Godfather. I just watch those movies for the first time within the last couple of years.
