You know Pete is going to shine hard once Lane's fraudulent activity gets busted. He recovered well from that entire episode of him taking L's. Don loves him compared to Ginsberg.
Kinsey was one of my favorite characters on the show in the early seasons. People might have thought that the Hari Krishna stuff was strange, which it was, but it summed up Kinsey perfectly. His entire sense of self is tethered to a need for attention & validation. He's a hipster. It's his mission to be so distinctly unlike everyone else that he stands out. That's what, in his mind, makes him superior. I'm not sure if last night's episode worked as well as it could have but the "joke" of it was how Kinsey was practicing a form of a religion that's largely about subduing and rising above ego, to feed his own ego. This was exactly like his Civil Rights activism. He's so smart that he made a difference but his reasons weren't genuine and he didn't yield the adulation he anticipated so it fizzled out.
Kinsey could have smashed Joan, but she basically told him straight up "I would have let you fukk, but you have a big mouth".
