Official Luka Doncic Will Be A Bust Thread

I’m not going to pretend that I saw this coming or was on the Luka train but a couple things stood out to me.
I don’t watch euroleague but after watching all these top euro prospects bust I’ve learned to look at a few things. These guys drafted high are super young like Luka, have all these tools, and have and amazing highlight tape. When you look at their actual production though they’re garbage time players or just straight bad/average. Usually the guys who have success are a few years older, scouting reports don’t look spectacular, have obvious limitations, and fit questions in the modern NBA but were still really good Euro players.
I felt Luka was kinda unique here, and his actual production warranted hype even if I had some questions.

Oh yeah it was a much bigger transition for Dirk. It took him a few years to toughen up and truly believe he belongs. Luka has a completely different personality. Breh came in ready physically and mentally.

It's important to note that only 24% of his rebounds are contested. He's grabbing uncontested rebounds when there's no opponent in his vicinity to initiate the offense. 80% of his rebounds don't have any impact, and this is just another reason why we need to stop using box score stats in this manner.dude is getting center numbers for rebounds?

If he doesn’t get those rebounds somebody else will. I wholeheartedly believe in a team dominating the boards a as a factor in controlling pace and winning games and him snagging rebounds whether contested or not helps even if it isn’t the biggest part of his game

The point is, y'all shouldn't be valuing his rebounds (and individual rebounds, in general) in this manner, because they have little to no impact on the game. There are infinite more actions that have a greater impact in the game that aren't recorded in the box score; if rebounds weren't in the box score, y'all weren't be valuing them like this.

The past leading to an assist typically isn’t in a box score but it does show how well a player helps run an offense or leads to efficiently made baskets
My point is, if a few rebounds land in his hand or team mates hand, the team wins the rebounding category, and the team is competitive then I think it matters
