The Wolverine movies are just singular story-lines that don't tie into each other or the rest of the X-Men movies so you could do a R rated film, the old man Logan stuff doesn't interest me that much mainly because I don't think they would do it the right way which has been shown over the last two films of things they have badly screwed up.

WOLVERINE III To Be Based On Mark Millar’s OLD MAN LOGAN!!

According to separate reliable contacts, The Wolverine 3 has been targeting an R-rating since long before Deadpool’s stunning box office bow this past weekend. While that other X-Men spin-off movie grossing $132 million in three days is undoubtedly another great incentive to maintain the tone for The Wolverine 3, the filmmakers behind the mutant superhero film, including director James Mangold, have been planning for years to make a more violent farewell to Jackman’s beloved alter-ego due to the content of the “Old Man Logan” source material. While the MPAA of course makes the final determination of a film’s rating, the plan has always been to aim for an R.

Indeed, the “Old Man Logan” story by writer Mark Millar and artist Steve McNiven made waves due to its extreme nature when Marvel Comics published it between June 2008 and September 2009. Appearing in the pages of Wolverine #66-72 and Wolverine Giant-Size Old Man Logan, the grim tale takes place in an alternate universe and well into a distant, post-apocalyptic future. Within this dystopia, the United States has been taken over and divided by supervillains (and the Hulk). Magneto, Dr. Doom, and the Red Skull have split America amongst themselves after the mysterious end of the X-Men. And to make matters worse, now that Logan has a wife and two children, he refuses to unleash his claws or become “the Wolverine” again.

The comic book story is incredibly violent, featuring decapitations, brutal murders, and a hero who suffers from sudden bursts of bloodlust. It also showcases characters that are unlikely to appear in a 20th Century Fox film, such as the Hulk and Hawkeye. Nonetheless, Wolverine and the already announced return of Patrick Stewart as Professor Charles Xavier should be big enough news for X-Men movie fans.

I like Jackman and all, but they're better off burying this entire franchise and selling the rights to Marvel. They need to re-cast EVERYBODY. Gives use a shorter Wolverine this time around too. Give us a true Wolverine origin story or one revisiting his past with Deadpool in the cut crackin jokes

Casuals really don't know how many bodies Wolverine be dropping. Dude is a walking tank. That's a big part of his character.

if this is successful, I wonder if marvel will do additional superhero movies as rated R going foward.

I know, but I'd like to see them take a similar approach with the other comic movies. no reason wolverine can't be rated R for instance.

Wolverine 3 Targeting R Rating

20th Century Fox revealed at Toy Fair this weekend that they would be targeting an R-rating for Hugh Jackman's final run as Wolverine next year.

This news follows the massive success of Fox's first R-rated standalone super hero movie, as Deadpool absolutely killed the box office this weekend. They previously dabbled with R-rated comic book movies earlier in 2015 with Kingsman: The Secret Service, which also turned out to be a surprise hit, though not as big a success as the world's new favorite merc.

The news comes from a pamphlet or catalog Fox handed out to guests at their Toy Fair presentation. The logo for Wolverine 3 is featured above the theatrical release date, home entertainment release date, and anticipated MPAA rating. See it below.

THAT is going to be a very hard role to recast. He's synonymous with that character and that franchise and a whole generation of comic book flicks

yup, he up there with RDJ as iron man.

to be honest, hugh could continue playing wolverine as he gets old. just can't play a young wolverine.

Where the hell did you find these, it's amazing how (aside from the way he talks) that guy is the most accurate portrayal of wolverine yet lol.Crazy the attention to detail for such a limited budget as oppose to the big budget movies (even though I doubt these were cheap)

The director of Bat In The Sun been doing fan movies for years. He started with Batman Beyond Year One, then other Batman fan made films. So he's been getting real popular over the years by doing these super power beatdown films. He definitely knows about all the comics and knows how to shoot these films.
