over the years i learnt that being late or tardy isnt a joke. if you dont have to sign into a phone or voip, you can get away with 10 mins like everyday but usually everywhere takes lates seriously. you can be early everyday but the one day your late your gonna get in shyt. i got fired from tim hortons helpdesk for this very reason. time is money, especially in the corporate world. you cant be costing nikkas their bread plus it just looks bad.

Eh, the Helpdesk is probably one of the few positions in IT where time is strict. Other positions are normally pretty flexible depending upon the company. Like the guy on-call fixing a server issue at 3am, isn't going to be expected to work "on-time". But helpdesk for sure, you better stick to that schedule.

Oh I see, Im fairly new to IT and I've been interested in getting a Linux cert but why Red Hat over the others. & why Red Hat over the Cisco certs?
Breh in the cert thread over at 6 certs said that it's more in demand, quicker and better than Linux+ cert.

What cert are you seeking to acquire?

-or-

What purpose are you seeking to fulfill with your build?
Already got CCNA but now trynna get my server skills up. Next i'm looking at MCSA server 2016 followed by a cloud cert (most likely Azure).

I get alot of free Azure credits so if you got any good lab ideas that'll let me play around with hyper-v, storage, virtual networks, firewall and all types of servers then I'm all ears breh.

You will want to acquire a trial copy of Windows Server 2016.
Start out with 1 server with a GUI.

Hyper-V may be a bit tricky. You will have to test if nested virtualization will work in AWS.
As to virtual networks, you can simply use AWS VPC.

This may be a bit much, but you can work on your scripting/coding skills at the same time as you execute your studies for Windows. You can begin with Powershell.

I set up nested virtualisation on azure today at the office. I was thinking of having 2 or 3 VMs within the hypervisor with different roles, just been struggling to come with a concrete lab scenario.

I would set the goal as to learning services such as Active Directory, IPAM, DNS, DHCP, et al.
Some of the services you can group on a single server. Others will require their own platform.
This begins to touch on PaaS (Platform as a Service) as well.

Going about it as the aforementioned will have the labs build themselves.

As of right now, fooling with Dell tutorials(gonna get one of their certs through Techdirect), imagining desktops, and laptops while doing deployments taking up my time, so no funny
business at my desk, but I got plans:pachaha:Getting a hang of Active Directory and the Helpdesk software(that will be changed soon:snoop:) and then imma be on my

grind. There is enough downtime I can literally work on my side business at the desk. Imma sit and absorb all the information I can from my coworkers though, cause they put me

onto so much and im only a few days in. After my feet get wet, its less help desk and more
deployment and troubleshooting on site. And i'm getting paid above market:mjpalm:
