Started doing jitz about 6 months ago and it was the best thing thats ever happened. I know theres a couple ppl on this forum who train in bjj like @Jutt and @Mowgli. State what style you train in and any tips for ppl who want to get better. Gear recommendations, good escapes or moves? Supplement recomendations or good workouts to compliment jiu jitsu. Good books to read to become better, essential youtube videos to watch and classic grappling matches? I train in the 10th planet system. A good book I just picked up is jiu jitsu university but its all gi so its hard sometimes to relate. A great book ive been studying is the Marcelo Garcia x guard system.

Ive been straight kimura hunting when I started but I realized how much I improved when I look back on it. Annyways, this is a GREAT video for single person workout drills.[ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EXjP50SOwK4&feature=youtube_gdata_player[/ame]

Im here

When i started I had complete brain overload...I wanted to learn 10000 techniques faster than anyone else, cause i couldnt handle gettin worked. Im not saying dont try and learn all these advanced things real fast...but theres definitely things u need to make sure u master before you spend too much time working working on re-counter sweeps from xguard

Best thing I can say is, pick like 3 moves maybe a week...and try to get in atleast 100-200 reps (more the better) of that same move. its boring and repetitive, but thats the only to make it part of ure long term memory/into your system. I got hurt really bad and havent trained in a year and half, but the moves ive drilled so much are still in my system and i could use them in a second cause ive put that work in

at one put I went out and bought one of these:
A0XX_1_20120223_2062605.jpg
...and would just work on the grips and make sure I was getting reps in at home when i wasnt training...looks very weird, and u get some looks when people come into your house, or ure driving back home down the road with that thing in the background, but i didnt give a fukk. Expensive, but u can get them on ebay for cheaper. No doubt the best thing is to go to class and drill with live people, but i liked having it at home to get in extra reps and work on small stuff

reps reps reps reps reps

at one point i was also paying virtualgracie.com like 10bucks a month (rodrigo gracie)...they had a technique library that broke things down so good...i dont think the sites up anymore

U can find techniques all over the internet, but the key is to sift through the badones...id take 1-2 of the techniques and drill them all the time, along with what i was doing in class

[ame=http://youtu.be/7PDr34gujrs]ArmBar from the Mount - YouTube[/ame]

i love the way he breaks things down...he can take the things u already learned, but with a lot of extra detail on the specifics...I know marcelo garcia has a website with the same thing, and its excellent

I was gonna check out one of the 10th planet schools in ci when I lived there but then I moved to canada for work and I train here now. You should really check out 10th planet especially if you like to smoke weed and roll like I do, nothing better
