this thread has got me looking back in the last few years to see what local shyt i've missed because i've only kept up with my fav MC's
Vents1 is one of my fav MC's he has a song that basically tells the true story of an Aussie guy (David Hicks) who got caught up with Al Queada and got sent to Guantanamo
Funkoars parody of Candy Shop called Bottleshop lol these guys are like the Aussie version of the Alkaholiks
Def Wish Cast - one of the first Aussie Hip Hop groups to release a full length album. not the best cats but you can hear the heavy Wu-Tang/Das Exf/Fu Schnick/old school Cold Crush type influences in their style
even in their recent stuff
Fluent Form
one of the best aussie albums of 2013
always gotta show love to Fatty Phew, i heard this song a few years ago now i i'm always fiendin for more Phew music
Bliss N Eso - the first group i think that could possibly have a real fanbase in America mainly due to one of them being from the USA. they're not my thing really but they're a hell of a lot better than Iggy. they actually used to post back on SOHH i chopped it up with one of them on there back in like 2002 or something. they have a song with Nas now too (a few months/years old by now)
and i have to put in the Hilltop Hoods - the Run DMC of Aussie Hip Hop. not the first group to release an album, not the best ever but the ones who kicked down the door as far as Oz Hip Hop being in the mainstream over here. their recent stuff has been sub par and to be honest i've never felt them too much anyway. i don't like how they stress the accent in fact they were one of the first groups to really say "fukk THAT" when it comes to Aussie MC's putting on an American accent in their music which still happens to this day, there's a big debate but the Aussie accent wins hands down from the real heads. they were featured on a CunninLynguists album a few years back and they tour the US regularly & have even been shown some love on 2Dopeboyz for whatever that's worth. Nosebleed section is probably their biggest hit.
