Scary as f and it makes sense. Vulnerable populations with it, are probably just trying thug this shyt out.Yea this thing is already spread hard, check out Cali san francisco/san Jose
It would have to mutate to be less severe for it to reach pandemic status right?Mutations
No pandemic status is based on worldwide spread, sustained human to human spread and infection rateIt would have to mutate to be less severe for it to reach pandemic status right?
That’s what I’m saying. If it’s as deadly as a 50% mortality rate it may burn out before it becomes a pandemicNo pandemic status is based on worldwide spread, sustained human to human spread and infection rate
Not unless it mutated to be twice as infectious but half as deadly, which still means a quarter percent of people dieThat’s what I’m saying. If it’s as deadly as a 50% mortality rate it may burn out before it becomes a pandemic

The idea is currently any public health department nearby is trying to conduct surveillance. Capture all the touch points, vaccinate different vectors and control the spread. That’s what I’m saying. If it’s as deadly as a 50% mortality rate it may burn out before it becomes a pandemic

I hope I’m wrong but the experts I follow are using very “concerning” language.

“The teenager hospitalized w/bird flu in Canada, may have a variation of the virus that has a mutation making it more transmissible among people, early data shows-a warning of what the virus can do that is especially worrisome in countries such as the US where some H5N1 cases are not being detected”bsky.app
We just gotta accept that in the current world we live in, a lot of people aren’t tapped in what’s going on until it’s too late
I work for a hospital system but I’m fully remote, never been to any hospitals.I work in a hospital
You work in the medical field as well?I swear to goodness if this shyt is as bad as it sounds I’m going to have to work on an exit plan for real.
I am NOT fearing for my life in gloves, masks, visors, etc dealing with patients another 1+ years. I cannot deal with this again.
Practice management. So I’m certainly not treating patients, but still interacting every damn person who enters, or dealing with staff members who have dealt with the patients. It was a lot.I work for a hospital system but I’m fully remote, never been to any hospitals.
I brought this up on a call yesterday, but it was kind of brushed off.
I get it—people tend to dismiss talk of seasonal colds or similar issues. But the language around H5N1 right now feels different.
I reached out to a younger breh I know who’s a scientist and works in an animal lab. He was somewhat aware of the situation, but after I gave him a detailed update on how the virus is progressing, he left the conversation very concerned.
It’s definitely on his radar now, and we’re planning to chop it up more this weekend.
