From Around The Way
i second that.
another thing i wanna add. i hate how you have black kids, black men outthere doing good for themselves, helping people out and etc and them getting shunned and ignored being labeled as sellouts and not getting props for doing well for themselves. then some dude that goes to prison for murder like chi ali gets all this dap and love where you have people saying "welcome home", ready to roll out the red carpet for him like he's a hero. you have all these guys celebrating drug dealers and homicidal maniacs before they show love to someone that graduates from harvard with a PhD in nuclear science. terrible.
when is this sh!t going to stop?
im sorry but you need to post some examples. i mean, yea theres naturally going to be some resentment there, as it is with every race but stuff like this is so overblown.
ive found that 9 times out of 10, if somebody is referred to as a sellout, they either exhibit c00nish ways or are basically nobodies in their neighborhood and dont interact with others much so people tend to assume that theyre uppity. the latter isnt always their fault but my point stands.
ive never seen anybody that looked out for his people & community get shunned or called a sellout.
lets be real, you cant celebrate somebody that you dont know. 90% of the time, the harvard grad is a guy that stayed in the house growing up. so of course we're gonna roll out the red carpet for the homies coming out the bing-bing before we roll out the red carpet for "the guy that lived on one of those blocks down there".
shoot, i remember being treated as if i ended poverty, just for going to community college. i got luv from everybody from old folks to the hustlers to the wild niccas all the way down to the bums begging for change.
