Damn you really this is a middle tier season?

The big book fans will always hold 1, 3, and 4 in high regard and will be more critical of 5, 6, 7, and 8 than the non readers. There are solid reasons to harbor those feelings, but also some blind bias as well

This season has had some of the highest highs of the entire series but it also has had some ridiculousness as well and certain people will latch onto the bad and not let go (Arya's Braavos plot ending with a whimper is the biggest one)

In my opinion, this season as a whole is as good as any previous season because any steps backwards in terms of writing have been met with huge steps forwards in terms of scope and grandeur.

The problems of this season are strictly due to Benioff and Weiss not having the ability to write these characters out of the holes GRRM dug. GRRM has the advantage of time to slowly bring them out. HBO had to send in an emergency rescue operation and the mission didn't go entirely smoothe.

The "5 year gap" that GRRM scrapped ended up stopping the book plot advancement dead in its tracks and caused the show to be forced to meander for 2 seasons then stumble out.

Its time for wolves now though. S7 and S8 should be fire.
