I don’t really see why people have an issue with the Jaime/Brienne stuff. I thought Jaime leaving made sense and we still don’t know what his motives really are. I just think they should have never made them get together, their relationship was better when it was platonic.
It shouldn't happen in the same episode. It makes everything feel rushed. In a traditional season you could have the hookup in episode 5, or whatever, then have interaction in episodes 6-7, and have him leave in episode 8, so it wouldn't feel like he just humped and dumped her. It does a disservice to both characters to have the drunk sex to crying begging goodbye happen over the span of 20 minutes.

the issue is the pacing...the story makes sense, just not how it was presented, especially given, for some reason, that was a hookup a lot of fans were waiting for. furthermore to have brienne go from ser brienne to weak crying bytch brienne in the span of 30 minutes was too much as well. these are the issues the pacing presents, it's incredibly hard to sell these about-face storylines when they happen within the span of 20 minutes...regardless of how much "show time" has passed

Same thing with Sansa telling Tyron about Jon. It's a fine story telling and character beat for her to betray Jon and tell Tyrion but it feels like she literally ran from the godswood to tell Tyrion 5 minutes later. Because of the pacing and framing of the scene, it also doesnt look like she gave any real thought to it like Littlefinger would, it comes across as if she just couldn't keep a secret. This is another thing that would have felt better had it happened an episode or two later, with some scenes inbetween her learning the information and her deciding to tell someone. A scene between Arya and Sansa privately discussing the news and what it would mean if word got out ould have been the PERFECT connective tissue scene to stick between her finding out and her telling Tyrion. They could have also reflected on why Ned never told Cat and debate if that was the right call since it led to Cat hating Jon.

But its so rushed because we are getting set up and pay off within minutes, and no in-between scenes to flesh out the story and characters.

I place blame on the double Ds and GRRM...one of the podcasts I listen to says it all the time that the show runners didn’t necessarily sign up to write ASOIAF fan fiction...you adapt this epic fantasy story, then run outta source material halfway through...whatever the fukk is preventing the old man from finishing the story, D&D sure as hell weren’t equipped to get pass it if he wasn’t...they’re out of their depth
I don't doubt that played a role in D&D sticking to their 70-75 hour limit. Seasons 5 through 8 should've been enough time to tell the story the last two books are meant to portray at a decent pace, but they've basically been forced to freestyle towards the conclusion.

There was no motivation to call an audible and extend things telling their own fanfic. GRRM left them out to dry and they said fukk it, we're gonna stick to the time frame we laid out and wrap shyt up.

I get it but even if this season was ten episodes it would still be incredibly difficult to properly pace this story. There are so many other stories that take precedence and a lot of other important things happening off-screen that should be on screen, I think they’re kind of justified for pushing this story along.

Cersei being final boss should be light work. Just send Rhaegal and Drogon to make the Golden Company mince meat.

Light work???

Did you miss the episode when the thing Qyburn built almost killed Drogon? Now that he knows it works I'm sure he's built more and had them placed in strategic positions to take out the dragons when they reach Kings Landing. Remember Cersei's in a defensive position and can stay there which gives her the advantage.

About half the Unsullied are dead. 90% of the Dothrakis are dead. I don't see the Vale getting involved. The wildlings will not get involved either. Only question now is where did Jamie fall in the war to come.

So tell me again how this should be "light work":usure:
I told you I'd bring this post back up with your "light work" talk.
