No they aren’t. Joe Manchin has made it clear he will not support it. They got 50 votes. If every democrat except Manchin votes to end the filibuster, that’s 49 and not enough. Kamala only gets to vote to tie break at 50-50.

What about independents like Sanders?

What about independents like Sanders?
The two independents in the senate, Bernie Sanders and Angus King, both caucus with democrats. Meaning they are counted in that soon-to-be 50 total of democrats.

Lot of people are joking on twitter right now that Manchin will be the most powerful senator in DC. Democrats are going to have to make him happy and ensure he stays on their side. He represents West Virginia, a deep red state. He didn’t get along with Obama but likes Biden. I don’t think he’ll switch parties since he supports most general democrat ideas (he supports Obamacare, climate change action, etc). But he’s not gonna let them break the filibuster and has demanded that democrats work with republicans to get things done.
