That Carnival episode is amazing... some of those shots

I don't know how i missed, but I didn't realize Nate already knew his dad smashed Jules.
When Caleb was diggin thru his porno dvds, realizes one is missing and that somebody was in his stash box.
Then Nate does the finger in mouth gag on Jules, like his pops did

The Jules episode lowkey felt like a regular episode. It kinda looked like they added deleted scenes from the first season for certain parts.

It’s good but the Rue episode is still the strongest one.

Dope episode, although Rue's was a lot more soulful. I appreciate the slice of life approach towards this one with Jules and I'm having a hard time seeing a happy ending for either of them. At least as far as their relationship goes. Would be best to venture out into their own realms and conquer the demons they're fighting because their pairing is just not a good mix, regardless of the love they have for each other.

The nightmare sequence in Jules' apartment was terrifying.

My takeaways:

• Rue and Nate are the most interesting characters on this show. The stakes just feel so much higher whenever one of them is on screen. Watching Rue's special felt like I was watching a scale tip from one side to the other over the fate of her soul. Jules isn't uninteresting, but this special didn't have that same sense of urgency.
• Hunter Schafer is fukking phenomenal and I'm constantly amazed that this is her first and only acting job. She made this episode worth watching for me. I felt like I was there in the room watching this confused, sad girl breaking down into tears.
• The tricky part about writing teenaged characters well is that you have to give real weight and nuance to their emotional turmoil while also displaying the naivete and hyperbole of youth. Sam Levinson tends to thread that needle very well.
• I loved the irony of Jules saying that Rue was the only person to see the real her underneath the million layers of "not-her;" we know from season one and Rue's special that Rue did, in fact, have her own skewed perception of Jules and their relationship.
• I'd love waking up to Zendaya's sleepy face grinning up at me

This was good but the 1st bridge episode was better. Outside of learning more about Jules’ mom this episode didn’t tell us anything that we didn’t already know.

it was interesting to get in the mind of Jules, that's one tough road she's traveled to get where she is. i still feel her and Rue are toxic for each other.

I need to watch it eventually. I realized I really don't care for Jules without the supporting cast. I am excited for S2, this reminded me a little of my high school in the sense of debauchery.
