So is VRR an inherent capability to hdmi 2.1?

or is it a feature you have to enable on your tv ?

Technically, it was avaliable on lower than HDMI 2.1 but it seems only TVs and Consoles are supporting 2.1. If you have a Freesync TV it might work.

Nah he right lol. Capped fps for different modes defeat the purpose. Unlocked frame rates for all modes is the shyt.

sure, but he tried to make it a PS5 vs Xbox thing when he’s talking about one game that got a specific update.

In reality if a game is unlocked, it will be unlocked on both consoles.

to get the most out of it you really need an option for an unlocked framerate

and some of these games are set up to adjust the resolution to hit a target framerate. a lot of games will need a patch to really take advantage of this

Never saw what the deal was with VRR until I tried flight sim with it on. Much smoother looking and cleaner. Glad to see more games getting it.

Tried to turn on VRR and it's saying my TV doesn't support it.

Edit: Figured it out, had to change the HDMI format for the input to Enhanced Format VRR.
