‘Destiny 2’ is coming next year


During its Thursday earnings call, Activision Blizzard, the publisher of Bungie’s “Destiny,” announced that a “full game sequel” to “Destiny” will release in 2017.

The company also announced a “large new expansion” for the original “Destiny” game. That’s coming at some point this year.

Bungie's community manager David "Deej" Dague mentioned the news in the company's weekly blog post for "Destiny."

"Prior to the holiday break we mentioned a second, larger update slated for Spring. That content release will feature a significant Light increase, a bunch of new gear to earn and equip, and new challenges for PvE players seeking some more fun experiences and replayability," Dague said. "Beyond that, the team is focused on delivering a large expansion later this year, and a full 'Destiny' sequel in 2017."

This news isn’t too surprising. There’s been a lot of shake-up at Bungie lately, and while “Destiny 2” was originally expected to launch in September, a recent report from Kotaku suggested the “Destiny” sequel would be moved from its September launch to either later 2016 or early 2017.

As for the “Destiny” expansion coming in 2016, we don’t know what to expect. We look forward to learning more in the days and weeks to come, considering there’s no new content slated for “Destiny” after this week’s promotional Valentine’s Day event, “Crimson Days.”

The Division is around the corner, but I was thinking of grabbing Destiny. Do you all think its too far into a cycle for someone to jump in now? Not sure how much time I could commit to both.

I went all in and went digital for the Taken King/gold or whatever the fukk its called edition. If I don't like it, too bad for me.
