Go the to blueprints machines in the tower (where Zavala, Ikora Ray, Cayde-6) are. From there you can see what is carrying over and what isn't.
For example, Gjallahorn and Dragon's Breath didn't make it to year 2, so I dismantled 2 of my Gjallys. Khepri's Sting for my hunter didn't make it so I dismantled it but my Akhamkara gauntlets will make it to year 2 so I kept it and when I get enough legendary marks I'm gonna buy the Year 2 version of em (boosts to 280 defense and higher discipline or something)
EDIT: hoard gear anyways cause you'll need it for weapons parts/armor materials.
Yea I get that part, I'm talking about the shyt with infusion. Can you infuse year 1 weapons with year two or should I just trash everything from year one?
Basically, is there any point in holding onto year one gear?

After grinding 6 hours yesterday. Got the new class unlocked, 2 legendary armors (one from dead orbit faction). Need to hopefully get a legendary pulse or scout and I'll be good to go. Gotta start getting some marks now.

Nah, they made it to where newcomers can rank up pretty fast. Everybody has a boost consumable you take that will put you right at Rank 25 to be up to speed for The Taken King content.

Gonna finish off the story missions with my warlock and hopefully get a good new legendary/exotic sniper rifle to eff around with. Want that Hereafter more than anything
