Because the best way to see how a good a movie is before seeing it is by general consensus. RT scores provide that.

no they do not represent the general consensus, they are a bunch of fake as film critics, thats not general consensus, maybe by the coli standards but I almost never agree with their ratings.. I find IMDB more relatable then these nerds
