This weekend will begin the long-awaited and already celebrated Crisis on Infinite Earths Arrowverse event , which will unite all of the CW DC shows and much, much more.
LaMonica Garrett, who plays The Monitor (and The Anti-Montior) in the upcoming crossover as well as a lot of the episodes that have been leading up to it recently, sat down with TV Guide to discuss what's to come.
"I read Crisis back in the day, and after I got the role [in Elseworlds] I reread it... just to kind of help me figure out who the Monitor was. When they announced that Crisis was the next crossover... that's when I found out about it just like everybody else, and I was like, 'Oh wow!' And being familiar with the story, the actor in me was like, 'Oh, I got more work. I'm not unemployed again!' But the fan in me was like, 'Oh this is going to be epic!' because I know how pivotal a role Monitor was in Crisis."
It's good to know that he's a fan of the source material and does his research, which is certainly something that is likely to please fans.
"Everything he does is for a greater cause, and I think the great thing that the writers did [...] is every question that's unanswered right now, they tie it up at some point throughout the season or in Crisis. I say this: With the Monitor, everything he does is to bring out something in a character that was missing or that was suppressed, and he goes about his own way of doing it, but ultimately what he needs gets achieved... He is the ultimate chess player."
He then goes deeper into what makes the Monitor who he is, and how the audience might just end up feeling compassionate towards him.
"When the crossover happens, you'll see a side of [the Monitor] that will blindside people. You're used to seeing the Monitor show up — we're used to seeing him as the bearer of bad news. He never has nothing good to say. You'll see a side of him that, I think, by the end of the crossover you might even have compassion for him... He's layered. It will really go into detail about why he is the way he is and how he turned out that way. So that's going to be fun for the audience."
Crisis on Infinite Earths will begin with its Supergirl episode on Sunday, Dec. 8 at 8/7c. It will then continue with Batwoman on Monday, Dec. 9 at 8/7c and The Flash on Tuesday, Dec. 10 at 8/7c. After the winter break the event will conclude with back-to-back episodes of Arrow and DC's Legends of Tomorrow on Tuesday, Jan. 14 starting at 8/7c.
So is he essentially spoiling that his character will make it through the Crisis unlike his comic book counterpart?
Tom Welling better suit up.
Don't get your hopes up, he came out and said he only shot one scene in one day
All I want is a scene with Brandon Routh as Ray interacting with himself as Superman If I get that out of this crossover then I'll be satisfied.damn it. I did read an article a few weeks ago about a scene with 3 Supermen. So I’m still hoping! I figure him in the suit would be huge so they’re hiding it.
Anybody who has been watching Supergirl and Batwoman wanna drop any crisis-related info? I'm assuming try haven't been as crisis-centric as Arrow and Flash but I don't know if I've missed anything crucial there
I'm still disappointed DC allowed the fukking CW to do arguably their biggest storyline ever. This should've been saved for a movie with a much better budget
