Jefferson inherited 52 enslaved Black men and women from his father in 1767. In 1773 he inherited another 135 enslaved Black persons from his father-in-law. He died with 130 enslaved black persons in 1826. During the sixty years he had those slaves, only two were freed openly and a couple others (Sally Hemmings's children) were "allowed to escape". About 5 more were freed in his will, but 130 were sold off to other slaveowners after his death to pay off his debts.

I appreciate Thomas Jefferson's hypocrisy on slavery because it helped set the stage for the end of slavery. But he definitely was a fukking hypocrite and pulling that shyt is inhuman.
