An Italian is collecting plastic containers from the seacoast, in order to emphasize the quantity of plastics we use...

Earliest objects he found are from the 60s, often practically intact after 60 years in the sea...

We all know that plastics can last centuries...

But this brings the idea home how crazy we are for using plastics that can last centuries for short term use or sometimes even single use products...

This is escalating faster than I thought it would. I knew the stuff we're starting to see this summer was inevitable but I thought we had another 5 years or so before these stories were all over the place. I'm seeing climate related crisis stories basically every day now.

I believe you. It's wild. I'm really thankful that I made it almost to 40 before shyt really starts hitting the fan, and that I've had a mostly enjoyable life. I can't imagine what current generation of single digit aged children are going to have to deal with in their adult lives re: climate change.

Its truly scary breh. I have a young daughter and I'm distressed just thinking about her future. My only hope is get her in a region of the country where the impacts lf climate change will be less severe. At the rate we're going by the time she's my age she may live in a world where the most basic of necessities are hard to come by.

Wishing the best for her. As soon as I posted that I knew someone here would think about their kids. I’m not a full on doomer though. Things might get bad but her generation could also be the ones to get it right
