Movie's a little overrated considering all the 9's i was seeing it get online. I give the movie a 7.5, maybe an 8 after a second watch. The movie has flaws, and i have nitpicks. I've been watching a lot of spoiler talk/ discussion videos. Some small details went over my head i thought were dope. Overall it’s a good movie (definitely not bad) that i will watch hundreds of times like the other films in the series.

Also, i think they should have kept them as brother and sister. I feel like i'm the only one who loved that concept in Halloween II (1981). I remember seeing an interview with Danny McBride, and you can tell he HATED that shyt. He's right that they didn't plan for it originally, and it probably WAS tacked on, but shyt, it worked. The stars aligned on that one imo.

Not making them related makes it seems (to me) random af for Michael to be going after her after all this time. Like, did this nikka Michael wanted a rematch or something? :mindblown:. I get it though. McBride and co didn't want anything connection to part II that might cause confusion on what carries over to this film and what doesn't.

That doctor doing that goofy ass heel turn took me out of the movie to be honest. Not for long though. After Myers Seth Rollins stomped that nikka head into fossil fuel, i was back in it. It was originally Laurie who set Myers free to kill him, but they scrapped it. Let this be a lesson though. Not only can you not ever replace Donald [Da Gawd] Pleasence. YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE A DOCTOR WHO IS NOT MENT TO REPLACE HIM, BUT TRIES TO SOUNDS JUST LIKE HIM EITHER. I know this nikka was a student of Dr. Loomis, but damn did he teach him how to talk like him to:pachaha:

Don’t expect everyone to agree with my personal rankings, but:

Halloween II (GOAT)
Halloween (2nd GOAT)
Halloween 4* (Very slept on)
Halloween (2018)*
Halloween (2007) (i don’t really like Rob Zombie films, he’s all gore no story, but this was ok)
Halloween H2O (use to love this one arguably the most, but it didn’t age well, still good just not as good as before)
Halloween 2 (2009) (was my WOAT until i watched it again recently for the first time in like 8 years, story is shyt, but an ok watch if you watch it for what it was)
Halloween 5 (had some moments but meh, i still watch it every halloween season with the others)
Halloween Resurrection (i can watch it, but it’s somewhat a chore, Busta has some funny moments though, and wtf was his name in this shyt, me and the fam just call him Busta and Tyra Tyra, fukk everone else)
Halloween 6 (:camby: and i saw the DC, i'd put Halloween 3 season of the witch over it, which is not a bad movie by the way, i would put that after H2O)

Saw this yesterday... was hella disappointed. The shyt was pretty wack.
shyt was def wack. We already knock movies down a few points for being holiday movies and judge against their cintemporaries but even in that same league, this isnt a good movie.

He didn’t want a rematch. The heel turn engineered it. Laurie was more concerned with him than he was with her

:pachaha: yeah, you're right. Laurie was the one who wanted the rematch.

From the father and son, to the podcasters on, Myers was killing randoms to say the least. What threw me off was Myers killing the granddaughter's friends (the blonde babysitter, and the other guy). IDK why, but i forgot when i was writing that Myers didn't know them (when i was watching for the first time a few days ago i knew). It just happened to be the granddaughter's friends. I thought he was working his way up to the Strode family like it was a Mortal Kombat arcade ladder. Starting with their closest friends. But nah, Myers was just minding his business...killing random people.

New Loomis was the glue since the granddaughter was in the backseat of the police car and he followed her straight to Laurie. Which ironically , he also didn't know she was Laurie's granddaughter and would lead him to her

Yeah Michael did what Michael does. You’re in his way and he kills. But there’s no logic to it. There are plenty of people we see him not kill so there’s no rhyme or reason to the people he does kill.

Even IF you want to say he killed the podcasters to get the mask, he could’ve gotten the mask without killing them. Now the one guy attacked him and normally for Michael, that means he’ll attack back but he didn’t have to kill the girl for the mask.

One other thing I like about this movie, is getting back to what Carpenter would do when he’d use his movie monster as a metaphor. In the first Halloween, Michael Myers is a metaphor for fear coming to the suburbs so soon after white flight and white families feeling like they were safer there than the cities they used to live in. The thing is a metaphor for AIDS and the outright panic it caused.

In this movie, Michael is a metaphor for trauma and how that trauma doesn’t care about you once you’ve experienced it. But if not dealt with correctly then it will creep up on you and have its way with you. It’s another reason why Michael isn’t concerned with Laurie and doesn’t go after her until the third act twist puts them together. Unresolved trauma has a way of getting back at you

The effects of trauma metaphor is why I think it would have been so much better if they had stuck with Laurie being the one who caused Michael to get free.

Maybe. But she just assumed he’d come after her. And I think that works better for real. She was ready and able and was strapped thinking he’d make a bee line for her. But Michael essentially made Bison’s argument from street fighter.
