Watched it last night. Dope ass movie.
I totally agree that the key to a slasher movie is making the "prey" be people that you either like enough that you don;t want them to die or hate them so much you root for them to be killed. But in this movie I only liked Laurie, Vicky the Nanny and Young Julian tha Gawd.
Conversely I hated Allyson's boyfriend and we all know what we got there.
Why do some of you prefer that Michael has a purpose?
I mean after a while all these slasher flicks lose purpose, Freddy lost his. He initially wanted revenge on the people who killed him and their kids. Eventually he accomplished that but then started randomly killing.

Yeah that’s why I said I liked all the characters in peril. Roy was hit or miss but I didn’t dislike him. And I didn’t mind the podcasters. They were journalists doing their job and yeah got clapped up
Yup. The minute you try to deepen the killer and give them backstory and reasons, the franchises go off the rails. You end up trying to serve too many masters at once. You end up spending so much time on backstory and mythology for your killer, you ignore the actual characters in your movie and they become faceless.
Plus, for me, it’s scarier. That’s why the trick or treat tracking shot worked so well. It’s random. You could just be out walking your dog or walking to your car. Michael could see you and you either live or die. It’s that simple. There was no rhyme or reason for who he killed or why in that scene; he just acted on instinct. That’s terrifying

I liked the PTSD angle. Made me wonder how the chick that survived in Texas Chainsaw Massacre turned out. She went through far worse than Laurie Strode.

Somebody help me understand. I've seen my share of Halloween flicks. The Shape, this muthafukka has been maimed, mutilated, stabbed, shot and shot at. I can't remember why and don't even know if da shyt was ever explicitly said but why does this muthafukka just absolutely refuse to die?! Dawg is probably da most relentless muthafukka ever in horror.
It was Halloween. He was amongst other masked folks so ain't nobody look at da shyt as bein' suspect is my logic.

One thing i liked was he always made sure he killed people with no witnesses in sight.
