On one hand I don’t blame HER and her embracing her blackness instead of tap dancing around her heritage is commendable. It’s the same thing we give someone like J.Cole a pass for...

But on the OTHER hand. She’s not that great of an actress and she doesn’t have the gravitas that someone like Storm is supposed to possess. Storm is LITERALLY praised as a Goddess, and not just because of her powers but because of her demeanor...

Storm should be one of those roles that only the top quality black actresses get offered. Nobody is going to cast Vince Vaugh as Professor X or Matthew Fox as Magneto. Why? Because they aren’t TOP quality actors.
Yaya would be a good Storm:ehh:

Yeah, wish they cast a more accomplished actress but they were going young.
And really this is the only thing I have seen her in. The entire movie was bad and she didn't get much development. I can't knock her. :yeshrug:

Whoever is green lighting all these first time comic book writers working on Black Panther needs their fukking ass beat. Sick of these bullshyt ass stories featuring T'Challa and a severely watered down Wakanda. Let them new writers cut their teeth on some other property.

That "Long Live the King" comic reads like some shyt form an alternate reality. The author got T'Challa's voice completely wrong, his subordinates are openly mocking him and telling him what to do, and

Nobody should be, she was offered a role and she took it. She's nowhere near a big enough name where she can just turn roles down and suggest they go in another direction. I'm not sure why anyone would go at that young girl for a taking an opportunity that was given to her.

In situations like that the fault should ALWAYS lie with the casting director. Whoever does the casting for casting for Fox's X-Men movies clearly has a bias against dark skinned actors.

The Hugo/Nebula Winner Who’s Writing Black Panther? That’s Out This Week.

In one of the more interesting prose writer to comics signings this year, Hugo/Nebula/World Fantasy Award winner Nnedi Okorafor’s Black Panther series is out. Besides just having some awards to name, Okorafor writes Africa-based science fiction and fantasy, which means it shouldn’t really surprise anyone that’s going to be exploring Wakanda. This is a part of the Comixology originals program, so Black Panther: Long Live the Kingwill be coming out bi-weekly for 6 issues.

Official PR follows:

Marvel Entertainment and comiXology, Amazon’s premier digital comic shopping & reading service, debut the next exclusive comiXology Originals digital comic series Black Panther: Long Live The King, a 6-issue bi-weekly series written by Nnedi Okorafor, winner of the World Fantasy, Hugo, and Nebula Awards (Binti, Who Fears Death), and illustrated by Andre Araujo (Spidey, The Wicked + Divine).

Black Panther is on sale now for $2.99 on comiXology and Kindle as part of the comiXology Originals line of exclusive digital content and available to current subscribers of the popular comiXology Unlimited service. New subscribers to comiXology Unlimited can also enjoy it for free as part of their 30-day free trial. Black Panther joins The Immortal Iron Fists and Thor Vs. Hulk: Champions of the Universe, as well as the recently announced The Avengers with more exclusive Marvel series to be announced.

“I had a lot of questions about Wakanda, so I brought the lens deep into it,” says Nnedi Okorafor. “You’ll see the Black Panther interacting with tech-hacking village kids, vibranium-affected wildlife, and off-grid communities in Wakanda known as “mute zones”. Not only is this a deeply personal story about T’Challa, you’ll also see a side of the African country of Wakanda that no one’s seen before. Oh and there’s a mysterious monster in the countryside causing problems for everyone.”

A perfect entry point for new fans and longtime readers alike, Black Panther: Long Live The King is an adventure set in the world of Ta-Nehisi Coates’ landmark Black Panther run and told in the Mighty Marvel Manner! As the Black Panther and an Avenger, T’Challa has had to save the world time and again – but those duties pale in comparison to his responsibilities as king of Wakanda. As the nation rebuilds in the wake of revolution, T’Challa finds his people besieged by a massive monster tearing through the country, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake!

“Marvel Comic’s Immortal Iron Fists and Thor vs. Hulk: Champions of the Universe have been topping the charts on comiXology,” said Chip Mosher, comiXology’s Head of Content & Senior Director of Communications. “These digital exclusives, part of the ComiXology Originals line, continue to add value and interest to our comiXology Unlimited subscription service.”

Fans across the globe have been attracted to Marvel’s amazing characters through top-grossing movies, critically-acclaimed TV series, and ground-breaking new publishing series that have driven titles like Guardians of the Galaxy, Daredevil, and Black Panther to new heights, alongside perennial favorites like Amazing Spider-Man and Avengers.

This past spring, Marvel Comics joined comiXology Unlimited, giving fans the ability to read over 10,000 titles including thousands of Marvel Comics single issues and collections as part of their comiXology Unlimited membership, featuring Super Heroes like The Avengers, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Black Panther, Iron Fist, Guardians of the Galaxy and more.

I like the writer and I want her to win but I read that first issue and I was like:dwillhuh: is it just me or are T'Challa's subordinates openly mocking him?
My impression is that everyone sees him as a spoilt kid who has inherited the throne and no one respects him and thinks him capable of much.:gucci:

I actually think she shows potential as a writer, it's just obvious she did the bare minimum of research on Wakanda and Black Panther. The Wakandan people and even T'Challa sound like Americans. The story even lacks internal logic, Wakanda has fought off Alien Invasions but T'Challa suborninates openly mock him for saying he saw a giant monster. She had Wakandan's rioting in the streets because of a fukking blackout. :snoop:

Her version of Wakanda seems an awful lot like Coates version. They're supposed to be FAR more advanced than the rest of the world, but this version basically on par with Tokyo.

well.. at the screening it was damn near two hours and forty minutes, but i'm hearing that when it hit the theaters i'm hearing one hour and seventy minutes.

Damn, I hope they keep the length, especially if it means we'll be getting a better product.
