Protectionism isn’t fiscally liberal. They are cutting safety programs, lowering taxes and accelerating corporate welfare - absolutely none of their fiscal policy is liberal and they’ve brought back zero jobs as they continue to incentivize companies to cut costs and make more money since it won’t be taxed.
and where the Dems are socially this past decade all stemmed from Reagan’s social conservative movement. Things build on each other. The original exodus in the 80’a of course won’t be as big of a contingent as what it’s grown to 30 years later. And of course as your contingent grows so does your voice and your power.
Yeah, Trump's "fiscal liberalism" is wrapped up in white supremacist 1950s revisionist nationalism and american exceptionalism. And considering it was just all talk, and these same people still support him, reveals it was all about the latter and not actual policy; since trump has been just pushing the standard gop agenda.
