it was called early because Trump has no path to victory in AZ. The remaining ballots are in heavily blue regions. AZ was called because the trends showed a clear mobilization of votes for Biden, particularly in areas that would have normally gone for the Republican.

But he is basically hinging winning Arizona on Maricopa County. The most populous region in the state where Pheonix lies, a state that previously elected a democratic senator outright. Trump needs like a 60-40 split in the remaining votes in that county to maybe squeak out a win there.

Republicans dont get big splits like that in big cities and the way Trump has been bleeding suburban votes since 2018. Its nearly impossible for him to catch up in Arizona state vote totals via Maricopa County.
