they already do just by being republicans tho :yeshrug:republican voters fall in line

i mean like i said, i hope they really are dumb enough to double down on trumpism. but the shot callers and bosses are gonna read the polls and start to figure out how to get the suburbs back
The shot callers don’t run the train anymore. Republicans have always dealt with radical far right candidates who challenge the establishment. But they only managed to beat the establishment once (1964) until Trump. I don’t think we’re going back to another era of Bush, Romney, McCain republicans winning the nomination. It’s Trump’s party now.

Consider that if he loses the narrative will be that Trump was betrayed by the republican establishment who conspired with the media, elites, science, socialists etc to beat him. He’s going to be a tragic figure and someone will run on making America great again. Pompeo? Pence? Cotton? Who knows. But winning Trump voters will be key. That’s why I think people like Nikki Haley and Rubio are gonna get clowned hard. They’re gonna try to run an establishment campaign and get blown out.

pompeo pence and cotton are roughly the same as rubio and haley tho, right? i dont see much difference there

i mean this premise of "another trump", i just dont think that person even exists :dead: because that person/candidate will have to be a rich established celebrity already, to credibly run

let em :yeshrug:

if this election has shown anything, its that trumpism has utterly contracted the republican party. if they wanna move right instead of left, and double down on racism and Qanon as their strategy, theyll be irrelevant nationally by 2028

but i dont even agree that they will, tbh. i think trump was an anomaly and guys like josh hawley and ben sasse are gonna try to reshape where the partys heading just to save it. you have sasse on tape admitting all this shyt. and at the end of the day the MAGA cult would vote for the romneys because its either that or a "socialist" :dead:
They trend has always been going more and more to the right since Clinton. Whenever the GOP is out of power they go far to the right. Look at Mitt Romney’s platform he had to tow the Tea Party line and made tea party hero Paul Ryan his VP. Whenever Dems take power talk radio goes into hyperdrive. 8 years of Clinton lead to the first militia movement. Bush took over however by his second term the right went crazy. McCain ran in 2008 and the base didn’t like him so he chooses Sarah Palin to placate the base. Obama took power and we saw a second much bigger militias movement. Trump tapped into the anger of the base who was tired of “RINOs” moderates losing to Obama. Trump winning in 2016 vindicated the bases eyes. They had a taste of MAGA it’s unlikely they will change. Trump losing to Biden won’t change shyt because he won’t lose graciously. He will be out of office along with his children touting the election was stolen to the base and blame Lincoln Projects moderates for siding with Dems. In short they won’t moderate. We won’t from Reagonimics in the 80s, Contract with America in the 90s, neoconservativism in the 2000s, Tea Party movement in the late 2000s to mid 2010s to MAGA to now QAnon. They aren’t gonna change. They will go further to the right as long Fox News is around, hate radio is around, right wing blogs are around. You already see the alt right having influence in conservative circles.

To do it, the candidate will have to fully embrace Trump and be a former ally who never crossed him (like Pence and Pompeo). It won’t matter that they aren’t celebrities. Will it work 100%? No. But it should work enough so that whoever wins the non will be whoever embraced Trump the most.

There will be a faction of candidates who run away from Trump, who criticize his Covid response, who say they always had concerns etc. Then there will be a faction that says Trump was right, MAGA. I dunno who it’ll be but somebody is gonna take Trump’s mantle and run with it.

Trump is probably one of the strongest candidates the Republicans have had since Reagan. It's just that, he's polarizing.

Trump would whoop both Bush's asses without much of a fight. I don't see a single republican anywhere near Trump since Reagan.
Why? Because he can generate attention?
