Biden is doing well with seniors in Florida and that's going to be the key to his victory. Hillary actually overperformed in Miami-Dade but underperformed pretty much every where else in Florida.


It looks like for Biden, it will be the opposite - he will slightly underperform in Miami-Dade but overperform in most other parts of Florida. If that happens, he will win Florida

Seniors are the key to winning Florida. Venezuelan voters aren't large enough to sway Florida. Hillary overperformed with Cubans, that wasn't going to be replicated with Biden.

Biden will win Duval County (which Hillary didn't) and will win by larger margins in Pinellas County, Hillsborough County and Orange County, FL. That should help Biden win but we'll see.

i dont think you realize these policies were not viewed as particularly progressive in the late 1960s and early 1970s, which was my entire argument. relative to his time he was an extremely conservative president. environmentalism was less of a partisan issue like it would become in the eighties and the idea that we had to preserve the planet was universally popular. that article also brushes over things like his undermining of great society programs to over-emphasize less important policies he instituted. by pretty much every metric he undermined social programs and created extremely harsh conditions for impoverished people in the 1970s. do you really think he was more progressive than any president after hoover before him? because i dont see it

nixon put rehnquist on the supreme court who sided against black and latino plaintiffs on every single civil rights case he ever saw, thats not the sign of a progressive president.

i suggest you read some contemporary literature to see what the political atmosphere as a whole was like back then. fear and loathing on the campaign trail is a great place to start as a really entertaining read that shows how conservative people thought he was at the time
