A lot of people are attracted to his bravado. For all the people who pearl clutch how he acts there is a lot of people who find it cool and attractive enough to want to vote for him. This dude during his campaign stops in Minnesota pretty much said everything short of kicking all Somalis out of the country. I can't think of any other reason to find that appealing outside of being a rebel against orthodoxy or finding something about his behavior appealing.

This, people underestimate the appeal of contrarianism and rebelling against orthodoxy and conventional thought. For some, it makes them feel more "clever" than the majority, for others its to get a rise out of people. Also some people just don't like feeling compelled to support some thing, even if its in their personal interest.

Just look at any internet forum including this one, for all of the above.

Organize and get active before an election and support the right candidate during primaries. If you standing on principle only when it’s Election Day, then you already lost as it’s too late.
