I don't know why.
The "Breaking Bad" brand (and by extension, "BCS") back then was not what it is today.
AMC only wanted to give "Breaking Bad" 8 eps total for the final season. Wanted to cut the budget too because AMC blew so much money on "Mad Men". The only reason they got the full 16 episodes is because Vince Gilligan threatened to take the show to another network.
Fast forward, and "BB" ended with something like 11 million viewers. "El Camino" was watched by 25 million people in a week. "BB" is one of the most critically acclaimed shows of all time, and "BCS" is considered a great show in it's own right.
So now they have the power and respect to say when they want a show to end, and with how many episodes. They didn't have that luxury for "BB".

This show been such a slow burn but the payoffs been great. It really stands on its own
Bout to start a viewing run now until the new season starts. Netflix got first 3, gonna have to stream the last one but I hope to be done by the premiere.

I'm so looking forward to this...because of both BB and El Camino, I know BCA will not rush the ending and will ensure a satisfying feeling of completion
Hamlin fukking up if he's partnering with Jimmy (who is basically Saul) at this point in the series.
I guarantee this is what leads to HHM not existing in the "BB" timeline.
