Trump is president, how worse could our judgment get :dead:

That's a problem with universal suffrage. In an ideal democratic system practically no one would be able to vote for the actual president. The only way to guarantee sound judgement is splitting up votes so that you vote for department members and secretaries of state instead of the president, and you get to vote for a certain department if you work in an industry that it regulates. So if you're a transport worker or a longshoreman or a pilot, you'd vote on the guy responsible for transport law only. If you're a teacher or a professor or a university student, you'd vote on the education guy, and so on. With regard to prisons that would be judges, CO's and everyone who works in the penal system, plus ex-cons and parolees. If only people who know first hand exactly what all the issues are in a given branch of government can vote on it, that should lead to very sound judgment in voting. Obviously such a system is wildly impractical and far too complex and unpopular to be implemented, but it's just the theory I have, like if there was a democracy video game that's how I would set up my game

That idea came to me from a book written by an American WW1 Major-General, War is a Racket. It's a great book. Really breaks down how wars are just a capitalist scam to steal national wealth at the taxpayer's expense. Anyway at the end he suggested that the American president should lose executive power over the armed forces excluding situations where the US is actually invaded or attacked by a foreign power. His idea was that all other wars that were going to be fought offshore should be decided only on popular vote, and the only people allowed to vote should be able bodied men aged 18-35, i.e. those who would actually be called upon to pay the highest price in the event of a war. He theorized that that would immediately put an end to aggressive and imperialistic warfare such as the entire first World War. I was really taken by that argument and I like to think about how government would work if the same principle was extended to every aspect of the state.

joy reid was a host. you knew what time it was. shethepeople did a poll awhile back about their early favorite and half of the people polled were donors of dem campaigns. you had someone in the crowd yell out loud "say you're sorry" lol. This was a blue check twitter crowd

the poll

And Warren objectively did well at that event - and is probably gonna continue to do well. I'd gladly vote for her if she won the primary but can someone tell me why all these neo-con columnists and people who called progessive policy "pie in the sky" just two years ago are slurping her? Jennifer Rubin is a conservative rat who doesn't want higher taxes and is slurping liz. I mean you got fukking paul krugman boosting her? These people have never been progessive in their lives :deadmanny:

Do they think they can sway Bernie primary voters to Warren when it's Mayor Pete hindering her polling?

I'm more cautious about the primary than the general but a lot of these blue check libs are gonna be juelzing when bernie does well with non-whites in the primary. there are still people in this section that think bernie is polling bad with black ppl lol

definitely, i fukk with warren and im glad she did well. shes my second choice to bernie, though I do think theres a big difference, one big reason i dont think Liz will push for medicare for all. prob public option. completely agree on the primary vs the general. I actually think Trump vs Bernie is perfect for a landslide in bernies direction but the primary worries me. the establishment dems bend over for republicans but they will fight tooth and nail to destroy progressives

Bernie bros crying about how an event they didn’t “win” doesn’t matter/isn’t fair...surprise surprise.

And lol @ not needing Hilary voters but wanting to spend resources on “working class white men” who have decided to vote for the preservation of the supremacy of their race as opposed to policy

Bernie's biggest hurdle is winning over older black voters... or older voters in general. The campaign is pretty underwhelming so far in that regard. Their saving grace is how big the field is.

And those are the voters that makeup much of the Dem primary.

you're on record saying you voted for republicans. save it :camby:

I can't speak for everyone, but that's what it came down to for me. I'm an independent to the core, have voted locally/statewide for dems and republicans, but trump, outside of being unqualified, is just a pure idiot.

You're on record saying your for "affordable" health care. what does affordable mean? No M4A? aka you're cool that 30 million people are without care and you're cool people dying because they can't afford their insulin payments?

and you want people who work minimum wage jobs to continue to be stuck with stagnated wages while the top gets richer even though a portion of minimum wage workers are POC and women :laff: are you a landlord or something? :jbhmm:

Best: I believe in affordable healthcare

Worst: I don’t believe minimum wage jobs warrant $15/hr :yeshrug:

The problem that Yglesias has with Sanders' plan (and that Bakari Sellers pushed in that opening tweet) still holds true for Warren's fam. Nilsen acknowledges as much even while pointing out what makes Warren's plan more comprehensive.

Like with Sanders’s and Schatz’s plans, Warren’s vision calls for the federal government to partner with states that want to invest more in their public universities and match that state investment. While other plans have been dollar-for-dollar, or a 2-to-1 federal match, Warren wants the federal government to kick in two-thirds of the funding, making it a deal states would be hard-pressed to turn down.

Of course, all these plans have a catch; if states don’t want to take the money, their universities are left out of the equation. Warren is hoping to incentivize more states to join by upping the federal funding. But as the Affordable Care Act implementation showed, some states will refuse to take generous federal subsidies, even if they would benefit residents.

The claim here isn't that Bernie's plan is better or exactly the same. Warren took his template and went even further which is awesome. But Bakari was being disingenuous and tried to pivot away from the actual critique in that initial tweet...I do love the Pell Grant expansion though, Bernie needs to adopt that if it wasn't already in the plans (I assume some form of debt forgiveness is in the cards since the Sanders Institute was studying that and pushing the benefits).

1. do you know what a local cali republican is? nothing like the national repub party :wtf:

2. how the hell did you jump to all that from my post saying i'm for affordable health care? sounds like a logic mine that's more of your problem than mine

3. and no, i don't believe punching buttons on a cash register warrants $15/hour...how the hell does that equate to hoping the rich get richer? :dahell:

you're literally making zero points here...especially being that i'm 100% team warren and have the receipts to back up me putting money into her campaign...FOH :camby:

yall bernie dudes are some of the worst posters in this forum, like azbeauty said, yall are the left version of trump supporters...
