Skill based matchmaking should have have you in with similar levels but so many people have smurf accounts now id say go straight into ranked

No good player would tell you to start out with Gibraltar. Wraith, Pathfinder, Lifeline are the go characters for new players. Advanced players can do Watson, Bangalore, Gibraltar

His hit box is too big and I see average players suck with him. His abilities are trash if you aren't a good player.

I can’t disagree with that wraith timing on portals is huge nothing a new player can know without experience. Lifeline cool but still takes 5% more damage. And how can you tell a new player where to put a Watson fence? Bang yea I can see that but gibby so broken right now anyone can use him
