They haven't won anything with him as the captain. Lost 3 games at the 2018 World Cup, and finished runner up at AFCON twice.

Meanwhile when Aboutreika and Amr Zaki were running things they won back to back AFCONs.

Dawg, the Egypt team from 2004-2008 was something else. Al-Ahly really was the reason for their dominance. When your national’s team first XI is 90% from one club team, the team chemistry will be on another level.

Similar to Spain in the 2000s when the core of the team was from Barca and Real
