The difference is the past teams had generational players whom are now in there mid to late 30s and wont be competing anymore....USA squad will obviously have upgrades but the years of dominating the field even at the Olympics are likely over for now....

The hockey world cup is different because it happens during the actual NHL season so the players getting sent over always depends on whos in and out of the playoffs not at all the same thing....and i dont think very many people in this thread give 2 shyts about the hockey world cup.
