All I’m reading in response to this thread is some variation of blah blah fossil fuel dependency… why is that the responsibility of regular people who have already been ravaged financially by covid? Is there any consideration for the working people outside of protecting them from Putin and Democratic values nonsense?

No one is forcing you to buy an EV. The automakers are planning to do that themselves. They haven't been spending hundreds of billions on EV R&D for nothing.

.
cool :ehh: i have zero problem with it. just think it should happen organically
As for energy prices, the prices were rising rapidly due to the conflict, not this recent decision. You want energy prices to stabilize, you find ways to end the war.
gas prices sucked before the war in ukraine :yeshrug:

and republicans are just gonna run on "gas is biden's fault", and it will work, because americans are uninformed and the dems' messaging sucks :dead:

Let me be one of you robots for a second

If you did a statistical analysis, the higher gas prices are going to disproportionately hurt POC and especially WOMYN POC who have children and are forced to commute and pick up their children. Not to mention the whiteness of the countries involved. You all need to check your privledge and understand that this is economic racism.

Hilariously disingenuous "But what about the children..." take.

- Clearly if no dependency existed, we wouldn't be having this conversation.
- Oil has been trending up prior to war and the start of sanctions
- The same invasion also affects supply chain, the farming industry (fertilizers), and the airline industry. All of which will have an effect on the markets and domestic economy. That all would still be true even if we sat on our hands and let the rest of the world figure it out. The effects of a globalized supply and demand economy.
- Obviously the longer this goes on, the more its going to hurt. So the idea is clearly to make it stop as quickly as possible while trying to ensure it doesn't occur again.

If I read the words supply and demand again from fake economists again I’m going to die on the spot. What was the reason oil was trending up before these sanctions? Whatever bullshyt reason you use to explain it, the Biden administration said themselves that this was the price of defending freedom; higher gas prices. So all this deflection is a waste of time argue with the Biden admin not me.

Complaining about increased financial misery for the working class (the vast majority of society) is not “what about the children” I’m talking about grown ass adults who have to pay bills.

Edit : you also convenient ignore the substance of my second post. Is it true or false that this will disproportionately affect black people and especially black women? Will they not be the single most impaxted groups by this financially as a percentage of the population? Will this help promote racial and societal equality and equity? Principles you liberals seem to hold paramount are at odds with the social engineering of reducing the dependency on foreign oil aka driving a mini van or pick up.

I ignored your second post because it was worse than your first.

What is the point of this straw man argument, who is more or disproportionately impacted? Tell me you're a white troll without actually telling me. Everyone is going to be effected in more ways than those minivans and pickups.

You did all that typing and waxing poetic about fake economists and you still didn't address the facts that the "financial misery of the working class" was going to be effected whether the administration took action or not and that those actions are to decrease the timeline rather than allow it to go on indefinitely.

Ignoring who is most affected by a decision is not intellectually honest. The people who are most negatively affected by a policy are typically it’s intended targets. Like a voter ID law is standard racism because it targets disproportionally black people who don’t have access to those types of ID but would like to vote. The exact same logic can be applied here using statistical analysis rather than opinion but you ignore it and opt for social engineering.

The dependency on foreign oil and this acceptance of doubled gas prices as a new normal was not once mentioned by Biden as a possible consequence of his policies or even the policies of Trump when he was running for office so again it is dishonest to say he is absolved from blame. He’s either dumbfounded or complicit. Either he and others knew this was coming or they didn’t. In either scenario, the victim is the working class and the backbone of that group is Black Americans especially Black Women.

This has been the most disastrous administration for average Americans in any of our lifetimes. Not even the financial crisis in 08 can match the scale of destitution and poverty that grips the western world on such a massive level.

Damn you used to be a decent poster at one time.
