I’m just now catching up….but the city of Phoenix really kicked the Coyotes out of that arena & now they play their home games in a college rink? :why:

Ain’t no way they’re staying in Arizona..what are some possible relocation cities?

It’s a long story, but I’ll try to bullet the history:

-Colangelo asked NHL Presider Ziegler (Bettman isn’t great, but this dude was horrible lol) if NHL was considering Phoenix as a potential market when building new arena for Suns in early 90s, he said no. AWA is built as a basketball specific arena.
-Jets relocate to AWA in 1996
-Coyotes need a hockey arena to make revenue and build an arena in Glendale
-Glendale and Coyotes have issues for years, primarily since it’s not in a centralized location
-Glendale ends lease agreement with Coyotes after last season after current ownership group is late with payments
-Coyotes announce Tempe arena proposal and are playing in ASU new college rink until arena is approved and built

So basically Coyotes are hoping City of Tempe approves the proposal. If they don’t, they are in trouble. But, they might be lucky with Sarver being out as Suns owner. Sarver wanted nothing to do with a potential return of the Coyotes in Footprint even if it meant a hockey based renovation plan. If new Suns ownership group would want the Coyotes back there, it would be a temporary solution.

In my own selfish mind, they’d move to Atlanta. But that won’t happen because I’m assuming they’d have to rearrange the divisions again, & we already had 2 teams that left. If Raleigh, Tampa, Miami & Nashville can have teams I think Atlanta can too with the right ownership.

The group who owned the Thrashers didn’t give a fukk about hockey (or basketball when they owned the Hawks) & they were only in the business of selling to the highest bidder as soon as they got the team.

They should move to somewhere in western Canada

They are still there because it’s a nice sized TV market and a growing population. People don’t understand that when sports leagues look at markets to go to, it’s really about TV market, population, businesses, and stuff like that. I definitely think Houston and Atlanta are markets NHL wants to go based on the stuff I mentioned. Most Canadian cities don’t have that. Yes, the interest and attention, will be high. But there isn’t the potential to make money and grow the fanbase throughout the US. Honestly, that’s why I don’t criticize them going to all the Southern markets. They had to expand beyond to grow the reach of the sport.

I went to the Leafs’ game tonight and I knew Leafs’ tickets were expensive, but they really bend their fans over with no Vaseline. I paid more for upper deck seats on a random Monday night than I did for seats 6 rows away from the ice at UBS Arena during the opening weekend of the season. It hurt my soul clicking the buy button

Also, I like Drake. But I need a break from anything Drake related for a minute. I heard more Drake tonight than when I went to an actual Drake concert.

Didn't know you're in toronto, hope you are enjoying it breh although weather sucks.

Lol and yeah leafs and even if were going to a raptors game you'd pay out of your azz. It's cheaper for most of us to drive down to detroit or buffalo and watch a game even with paying the hotel.

crazy i thought for sure it would be bobby orr or paul coffey

its a shame how hockey is such a joke national team wise that we are missing out on a generation. It's been since 2014 that the best canadians played on a national team :scust:
Makar is probably my favorite player to watch right now, dude is magic with the puck on his stick. It would be a crime for him to never play in the Olympics, it’s already fukked up that we may never see Crosby and McDavid play for Canada at the same time. I was using them yesterday on NHL 22, top line was Crosby-McDavid-Mackinnon. :ahh:

Yeah, I always enjoy Toronto. Just had to cancel going to the Falls over weekend.
