Carl might have been in it too long for it to be a guest appearance I would assume. Looking at the list of noms, they all were just in one episode. Carl was in 3 I think.

Courtney B. Vance had a prominent role in the first two episodes, a shorter role in one of the later ones when his character's wife went through different dimensions and timelines, and had way more screen presence than Don Cheadle in FATWS.

Didn't see the Aretha Franklin or Queens Gambit jumpoffs but I heard good things especially Queen's Gambit. The other three I saw and thought they were all excellent.
