Funny story. So my mother is your typical black 50 something southern democrat. Loved MSNBC and watched it every night. Loved Joy. I warned her and my sister before 2016 election that people hate HRC a lot more than they think. Since Bernie announced his run I’ve had her on the Bernie train. And she had stopped watching “news” on MSNBC for the most part due to their regular ability to be wrong about everything. But since she’s been a Bernie fan she’s seen it with that kind of lens on and she saw how full of shyt and biased everyone on there is. A small victory in my life but a victory nonetheless.

My mom is black and in her 70’s officially team Warren now.

I’m still trying to work on her with Bernie. She likes Bernie. She says she’s concerned he’s not healthy enough after a heart attack. My daughter’s mother is a doctor and tried to tell her if you have a myo and you survive it, you’re good but it’s not sinking in.

Not mad at her being on team Warren. That’s progress cause at first I think she was with Biden off the strength of her being a huge Obama stan. My mom still has Obama bumper stickers on her car.

I did show her a YT video outlining the media’s bias against Bernie a while back and I convinced her on that.

I already know my dad is pro-Bernie without even asking as he was always somewhat involved and sympathetic to leftist/socialist causes his whole life.

This is the reason I don't mind Warren staying in the race, even if she pulls some votes away from Bernie and drops attacks on him occasionally. She's still fighting for progressive values, spreading a progressive message, and is going to hit the centrists harder than she hits Sanders.

As strong as she is in debates and as strong the feelings are in her base, I'm leaning back towards Bernie picking her as VP being the best move electorally. It's the best way to pull in all those people complaining about "Bernie Bros", it's the best way to keep women on the liberal end energized, it deads any claims that Bernie doesn't have clear enough plans or isn't being realistic, and she'd destroy Pence in the debates.

My mom follows politics all day and she can’t even vote. She refuses to become a citizen cause Bermuda doesn’t offer dual citizenship so she’s been a permanent resident for like 50 years.
