Shouldn't NYK send Melo to HOU out of respect

Melo was loyal to the Knicks smh
There's doing right by Melo and then's there's doing right by yourself. The Knicks shouldn't have to take a bigger albatross of a contract just to make Melo happy. That kills the point of a deal especially when Melo already has the leverage. I'm sure they love Melo, but not enough to take Ryan Anderson back and tell the fans to be happy.

Ryan Anderson is a great player though. Yes he's overpaid but it's getting exaggerated how bad his contract really is. He's an elite floor spacer and shooter. It's not like he's a bum. Knicks could definitely use his shooting and experience for their young squad. They just too proud to give Melo what he wants.

Wouldn't they be taking on a bad Portland contract anyway? Practically no one on Portland besides their big 3 has team friendly deals

That's why every side is looking for another team.

He's not a great player. He's a good shooter, but at $20 mil a year + a trade kicker for the next 3 years is an albatross. Otherwise this trade woulda been done months ago.

Last season he was the BEST 3 point shooter percentage-wise in the NBA on the road in a league that now conpletely revolves around shooting threes. Shot like 48%, from ridiculous range too. Knicks are dumb to only want young players. Need a mix of guys and a guy who's mellow as a teammate rather than melo. Knicks are tryna outsmart themselves.

Mellow teammates shouldn't cost a rebuilding team $20+ mil a year, especially he'd be impossible to trade between now and the end of the deal. So far there hasn't been a third team willing to take his contract to facilitate a deal without wanting picks attached (picks Houston doesn't have). Nobody's saying don't accept a veteran back, but the Knicks would be spending an already obscene amount of money on guys that won't be key members of their future.

If he's knocking down shots at that clip, why wouldn't he be a key member of their short-term future? These young guys like Ntilikina don't have to be paid the big bucks yet until a few years anyway. That's what I mean, Knicks have this fixed perception of what the make-up of their future successful team should look like which makes them blind to the qualities of any player that doesn't fit that perception. Paying 20 million a year for a guy who shoots better on the road than anyone else in the league is not the same as crippling your future. Are we even sure Ntilikina is gonna be worth more than that in a couple of years? Ryan Anderson would be the second best player on that Knicks squad right now. :yeshrug:

Except Anderson wouldn't start on the Knicks because he happens to play the same position as Porzingis (their 4/5 with him and Hernangomez is rock solid).

If the Knicks aren't sure of Ntilikina, then they shouldn't have picked him.
