Thiel is the most interesting choice
Platform went heavy with the social conservatism
but he's a gay silicon valley libertarian:jbhmm:
I think Thiel could represent the future (or at least a wing of the future) Republican party; silicon valley, tech entrepreneurship as a means to solving all of society's problems. Basically, neo-Randianism. The culture wars are over, Dems won. Republicans need to drop that shyt and find a new wave. Paul Ryan signals at this direction.

The "party platform" doesn't really mean much. Candidates don't have to follow it.

It's also not final. Only the low level committees have had a crack at it so far.

Trump: Palin not attending RNC because Alaska 'a long ways away'

Sarah Palin was asked to speak at next week's Republican National Convention, but apparently the roughly 3,000-mile flight is too long for the former governor of Alaska to make the trip to Cleveland.

"She was asked," Donald Trump told the Washington Examiner in an interview Thursday. "It's a little bit difficult because of where she is. We love Sarah. Little bit difficult because of, you know, it's a long ways away."

Palin, who lives in Alaska, endorsed Trump for the Republican nomination in Des Moines ahead of the Iowa caucuses and has campaigned with him on several occasions across the country, including in Florida, Oklahoma and a little closer to home in California. Palin also traveled even farther, to New York City, where the two dined at a pizza joint in 2011.

Agreed. You would see a lot more people that vote for Democrats right now vote for Republicans if the right backs off social issues even just a little. They would start thinking with their wallets and brains, and not their hearts.
