It'll be interesting to see what moves happen this deadline

deadline today at 4 p.m. EST - let's see if this team wants to actually compete or not.

Rumors (take them with a grain of salt they were calling the pirates and cards the front runners for Lester yesterday):

• The Pirates were known to have interest in Jon Lester before he was traded to Oakland, but prior to that trade today Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe said the Bucs were in on Lackey as well. Cafardo also weighed in on previous interest from San Francisco, writing, “The Giants, who acquired [Jake] Peavy last weekend, were also in the hunt for another arm, and Lackey was also mentioned.”

• The Royals are in on Ian Kennedy of the Padres, along with the Pirates and Marlins(and still others), tweets Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports. Of course, as Rosenthal notes, it is not clear that San Diego will deal away Kennedy.

Really disappointing.....no moves in the off-season, nothing at the deadline. They had additional revenue come in from the playoffs & did nothing with it. Falling in love with B level prospects over MLB players is a bad quality.....

Just move Pedro to 1B, they can't afford to let his bat sit everyday......

I guess he leads the league in errors. They've been talking about moving him to first since he was drafted.

He only has 15 home runs this year as well. He's not hitting them out like he was last year.

His power is down, but he's being patient at the plate & cutting down on the strikeouts. I'd feel much more comfortable with Pedro hitting than that struggle combo of Ike/Gaby

The Pirates are expected to place star center fielder Andrew McCutchen on the 15-day disabled list, seriously complicating their chances of making it to baseball’s postseason for a second consecutive year.

McCutchen could be out at least three weeks or a month because of what appeared to be a serious oblique muscle injury, according to a source.

I almost couldn't believe my eyes when Ike Davis hit a home run last night.

I know Cole was a beast last night and those two runs Watson or whoever gave up will probably go on Cole's numbers because he put the runners on base.


Anyways, 1.5 games out of the wild card... after we lost like 6 in a row this isn't too bad of a spot to be in. They've bounced back.

In other notes McCutchen messed up his ribs again hopefully it isn't serious.
